Air shocks aren't really doable on the Esteem, on the 60's and 70's cars the springs and shocks were completely separate and didn't even touch each other, but with the invention of the "strut" in its various forms using air shocks is not really doable anymore but I would imagine that some kind of air bag could be used in its place.

My car has never towed a trailer, after that welding shop that had been in business for over 60 years told me its couldn't be done I gave up on the whole idea and gave the trailer away. But I did haul home 22 boxes of laminate flooring that I stuck in the trunk and back seat that made the car squat very low to the point that the loading dock guy at the warehouse was concerned about it.

I made it home ok but from the driver's seat you could feel how low the car was in relation to the front of the car, I guess my point is that it doesn't take much to over load this car.

Default Esteem Trailer Hitch manufacturer

OK..I found the manufacturer of trailer hitches for Esteem Wagons. SRG Trailer Hitches in Quebec. They sell through some Suzuki dealers but I'm going to try to buy one directly from them... they have a web site that's all in French.

I was quoted from a retailer $149.00 that I suspect buys from them SRG, the dealer sent me to the retailer.

The retailer said delivery is 10 days, with a $149.00 deposit at time of order, because it is no longer a stock item by the manufacturer.

Jim makes a good point to which I would respond that having a trailer on is better than without. You can try to balance the load to unweight the hitch a bit - although if overdone can result in severe sway.

Regardless, his point is that the rear suspension is not strong. Mine broke on one side which may make some folks wonder at my sanity at adding a trailer in the first place. I'm still using it though :-)
