Timing chain, no belt. Not sure if it's interference or not.

Hmm, actually, I know that the 2.0L has a chain. I'm not sure about the 2.3L.

the 2.3 also has a timming chain. as for it being a interference motor that is unsure. but do to its low compression and lack of a VVt system i doubt it is. But since you don't have belt i wouldn't worry to much about this unless you raise your compression , adjust your timing too far, cams, ect., then you dont have anything you have to worry about.

2.0 and 2.3 engines both used timing chains, no need to replace, and yes, if out of timing piston will hit the valves.

timing chains usually out the last the car. I know on my ranger for example the timing chain was in great condition even after 500000 miles.

The chain would never need replacing. There are oil driven tensioners that keep the chain at the appropriate tension. So I wouldn't recommend to wait to long on oil changes as sludge can affect the performance of the tensioners and can create a knocking noise.

I'd seen some very abused Aerios and the tensioners never seem to make noise on the 4 cylinder Suzukis. just the V6 ones lol - EVEN with good maintaince they still fail.
