CHRONIC/TOOLIOSIS is on a distinguished road
Default New guy with a Knock question

production date 01/03 aerio 60k 2.0 auto quiet idle and as soon as you touch the throttle it appears to start a rod rap kind of sound. ASE certified mechanic with no idea about suzuki. I got bit by the german bug as a teen and am just now opening my eyes. Anyways long story short. I ended up with the car in a barter,it raps and Im looking for direction? The dealer thats local says it may be covered but Im kinda leary of dropping it off for them to tear it apart and tell me its not when I can do it myself. However I have looked elsewhere online and havent got clarity......

thanks for any info

There were a few TSBs listed for valve noise, one just being air trapped in the lifter. Though there is a few things you should know. All aerios make lifter noise on start up. That is just the oil pump getting up to speed. Also you need to check the spark plugs to make sure they are working correctly, this alone can casue valve tick.

Default knock

i really think its a rod knock,I been a mechanic around ten years and it seems loud enough to be a rod,but maybe these things have insane lifter noise i dont know. It sounds like the you tube video under aerio where the guy revs his knocking engine.

does anybody know about the rod issues with these
