Default Puddle of water on floor after air conditioning use

Hi all,

For the first time for the season, I fired on the air conditioning in my 03 Aerio. After using it for a bit, I noticed a puddle of water on the floor on the passanger side. This happened twice before but it was always under warranty. The dealer has been less then helpful explaining how they fixed it so looking for folks here to suggest. If anyone has a idea, please let me know what it is and where to look. Would truely appreciate it. Thanks!

Sounds like you need a new heater core. The puddle would most likely be the coolant/anti-freeze. You might want to check that you still have coolant/anti-freeze, because if you don't your car will overheat. Hope that helps.

Thanks but I know it is a clogged drain somewhere. It happened twice under warranty and they just unclogged it. Was hoping someone might know where the drain is.

Now on the top of my head just look near the center console for a rubber black hose. Take it off clear it and it should drain again. Sounds like you live under a tree.

You can try this one also. Every car has an air conditioning drain to the outside, usually a small rubber hose near the firewall at the engine compartment. You can identify it by following the water that drops out under the car, if not too clogged. When this drain clogs, the water falls in the passenger's feet. You can insert something inside this hose in order to open this drain. It usually clogs with dirt, not something hard to deal with. Good luck!!

Lackey, I don't know if you drive in a dusty environment, but I believe that your condensate drain for your A/C is clogging.

On my '03 it hasn't clogged, I think that on the pass side next to the console, you'll see a rubber tube which exits thru the floor.

If that tube plugs (ie blower taking in dust/dirt from outside) your A/C drain
pan WILL overflow into the car.

I've not done it but you might try pulling the tube out of the floor and blowing into it to try to clear it.---- Have a container ready if it starts to drain the probably full condensate pan (coffee can?) I'd look under the car
1st trying to see the tube.

Lastly, there's a thread regarding easy install of a cabin filter for the aerio.
This would greatly postpone or end this problem.

Good luck greg409
