Hi my wife has a 2003 aerio sx and im trying to put new brake pads on her car can someone please help me on how to remove the rear brake drum? Thank you
Thanks i did use a hammer like i meant it and all it did was knock the brake dust out of it. I did notice a phillips head screw and the face of the drum does this need to be removed? also what are the 2 8mm screw holes for?
The two tapped holes are for jack bolts. These are metric, so make sure you get the correct ones. Evenly turn the bolts and the drum should just pop off. When you put it back on, lightly lubricate the center hub area so that it won't be so hard to remove in the future.
A so called mechanic put cracks in my drums using the hammer method.
Sorry about mentioning the screw just figured you would have removed that. But after the screw is removed once you get some movement in the drum from the hammer (so you don't strip out the jacking bolt holes) then use the jacking bolts.
