Default '02 Aerio Mas Air Flow Sensor

I started having some driving issues with my Aerio last week and my check engine light came on. I took it to my wife's brother in law who has a diagnostic unit to hook up to the ECU. It told him that the Mass Air flow sensor is bad. I called Suzuki and they said i had to buy a whole new throttle body. Is this true? What does the MAS look like? A new throttle body is over $1000!!

Thanks for any help.

You can go to a junkyard and see if the have a TB from a Baleno(Esteem) with the 1.8 engine or the Aerio with the 2.0 engine to get the part and it is that expensive because you have to buy the complete TB.....the part you nedd is located in the back of the TB and it can be removable but like said before suzuki does not make that part alone.....

Default 21st Century and still behind!!

Sorry but I have to comment. I can not understand why this people do this thing. It is so easy to sell a sensor alone. It makes no sense in forcing people to purchase both parts together. Why?? Some people answer to me that they want to sell more. Wrong!! This way they do not sell more, they sell less because everybody goes to a salvage yard and get the part there. Very few people dare to spend so much in this part. If they would sell it at a reasonable price, then they will earn more, so that is not the main reason. Furthermore Suzuki is not who primary sell the parts, only the OEM, most of the parts are replacement parts, fabricated by other people, not Suzuki. That's why I do not understand it. In the 21st century, when technology has reached the highest levels, we are still looking for a part they do not sell but together. Too much technology, and we are still behind.

I had to talk, sorry!!

Default Try Ebay...

The Mass Air Flow OBD II code actually points to the MAP sensor on a Suzuki Esteem.

I got the MAP sensor (manifold absolute pressure) for my Esteem from ebay... just search for the model number of the unit in your particular car. From the previous post, it sounds like it might be the same part on the Aerio.

Mine actually had been installed on a geo metro, but the part number matched.

It was also available from the suzuki parts online store for about $80.
