Hello all, Newbie here. I am having a problem with a 2003 Aeiro. The car sometimes doesn't start. Just clicks like a bad battery. Change the battery, Same issue. I had the alternator checked and also the starter, They both checked out fine. So i figured a bad ground, so I started looking around for all the grounds and i found this ground disconnected. ( see pics)
I just don't know where it would go. The only work that was done was oil changes and a throttle body cleaning. So I am thinking this ground goes to the throttle body bolt. ( see pics). The dealer might have forgot to put it back where it belongs on the Throttle body bolt. Can somebody check there car to see where this ground wire goes to. Thanks in advance for the ground wire issue and if anyone has any input on the intermittent no start I would appreciate it. Thanks
First I would see how many bolts are within reach of the ground wire than look for a bolt that looks like it has been removed. Look for a bolt that has scratch marks from a wrench or pliers , I wouldn't think it would have been to the TB but any place that is grounded would work.

I checked all around already. The other end of that ground wire already goes to the body down below just above the wheel well, That's what made me believe that it has to go to a component of somesort, not body ground again. And why the quick disconnect. I was thinking the starter but I can't see the frigging thing it is buried between the trans and the motor.
Hey this is the same problem I had and you won't believe what I discovered. My wife had trouble starting her Aerio SX AWD on more than one occasion and got stranded the last time. A couple of guys with some auto experience noticed that the small engine ground wire on the throttle body to the chassis (two part wire with a spade connection) was nearly melted and carbonized. They scraped it clean and reconnected it and got her going but that baby stayed to hot to touch. I figured there was a bad connection between the engine and the transmission since the connection from the neg battery terminal to the transmission "appeared" fine. So I made up a honkin big cable and connected it from the throttle body to the transmission. Same problem, clicking and no start with a fully charged battery. So I removed the battery and the battery tray to access the negative cable and removed it at the transmission connection. the big connector at the transmission appeared normal but when I held it and pulled on the cable, the cable slid right out of the rubber sleave that covered the crimped connection. All the crimped wire strands were still crimped tightly in the connector but all of them were cleanly separated from the cable. I couldn't believe it was possible because this is a 6 or 8 gauge cable, but the cable was cleanly broken at the connector. this explained why the little 16 gauge wire at the throttle body was melting. It was carrying all the voltage to all the coils and sensors on the engine. I opened the connector in a vise with a chisel and drove all the wire strands out, then reconnected, recrimped and soldered the whole connection. I did this because I'm cheap but you might just want to buy a new neg battery wire. Follow the neg wire to its transmission connection and give it a good pull. If it slides out of the black rubber sleave you've found your problem. I almost think this is a factory sabotage issue since the break is so clean. This might have also caused your alternator problem too. Steve
James I didn't read through your whole post. That wire goes to the bolthead side (as opposed to the nut side) of a throttle body bolt. You may not have the ground problem I noted but if you reconnect that little wire and the car starts then you better check that neg battery connector at the trans because the car should start without that little wire. By the way my wifes Aerio is a 03 SX AWD. Steve
Oops. There is no nut end of the throttle body bolt. The connector goes under the bolt head. How the hell did that get taken off? Did someone remove the throttle body for some reason? Steve

Yes, the pin heads at the dealer did a throttle body clean and probably forgot to put it back on. I will check the ground wire going to the tranny and see what I find. Thanks
Hi, It's funny, ( in an odd way), todayI just cleaned & tightened that ground wire.
It goes to the bolt under the solenoid in the picture. (throttle body mounting bolt)
