It sounds to me that the mixing door is not working or is stuck between both air tunnels. This doors are usually controlled by suction air traveling through very small hoses. When one of this hoses breaks, suction air does not work causing the door to stay middle opened mixing both airs. All small hoses under the dash board and through the firewall must be checked for damage. If no damage is found the only way to confirm and correct this is removing the dash board. An alternative can be bypassing the hot water lines near the firewall to avoid the hot water to reach the heater inside of the dash board, but this will avoid the heater from working. Good luck!!

Hi, I read your answer with interest. My Aerio SX AWD has 71,000 miles on it and is having some air conditioning issues as well. It has never been as cold as my Ford Escort, but was ok til recently. Now it blows cold air out of the passenger side, but not the driver side. It blows room temp air there. Any ideas of what the problem could be? I had it to a mechanic yesterday and he said all the blend doors and parts seem to be ok. He said he took the dash off, put his hands down the tunnel and warm air blew on his left hand and cold air on his right hand. The blend door did seem to close ok, but he's still stumped (and so am I!). Do you think my problem has to do with the hoses, too?

Any help would be appreciated. I love my car - don't want to have to drive it only in the cooler months!!!

Thank you.

This symptom is associated with evaporator failure. It can be leaking freon or it can be clogged. The only remedy is to replace it. If you have the original one after 71000 miles, you're lucky. Incidentaly, Suzuki's don't have air suction hoses for the a/c. The vents are either controlled manually (cable) or electrically.
