Default 2005 aerio fueling problem

I want to get this problem fixed for my dad. Whenever he fuels this vehicle, only a small amount of fuel will be released at the pump before it automatically shuts off (like it does when your tank is full - but it is not). It does this continualy throughout the fueling process-takes forever to fill it. any ideas on the cause of this and what it may cost to fix? Thanks!

This is caused by the feul splashing out of the nozzle and some of it splashes back up the pipe whereby the pump registers that the tank is full.
On my one I hold the pump nozzle horizontal so the feul doesn't splash back up the nozzle.
Try a few different angles. You'll find one that works.
