Exclamation 2004 Aerio Keyless Entry

Yes, I looked and didn't see a post for this so I do apologize if there's a post out there. Here's the issue. The keyless entry remote for my 2004 Aerio sx doesn't work whatsoever. The battery has been replaced in the remote with no luck. Does anyone know how to program a remote for a 2004 aerio sx? I heard if the overall system went out its expensive to replace, so I am hoping its a programming issue.

Thanks!

You should have two remotes that came with the car. Does the other one work? I haven't heard about reprogramming the remote, but would be nice to know. Let me check around.

FYI, the Suzuki contact # is 1-800-934-0934. The keyless remote instructions came as a supplement to the owner's manual. Here is the 10 step procedure:

1. Confirm that all doors are closed and the ignition key is NOT in the ignition cylinder.
2. Open the driver's door and within 10 seconds insert the key in the ignition.
3. Now, within 10 seconds remove the key from the ignition.
4. Within the next 20 seconds, push and release the driver's door switch 3 times. This is the switch near the door strike plate which turns on the inside light and indicates that the door is open.
5. Within 10 seconds, insert the key in the ignition.
6. Now, within 10 seconds remove the key from the ignition.
7. Within the next 20 seconds, press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter. Hold both for at least 5 seconds. All the doors will lock or unlock to confirm that procedure was done properly.
8. Within the next 5 seconds after step 7 was complete, press either the LOCK or UNLOCK button to confirm that this process has been properly done. Now, the transmitter has been programmed.
9. Repeat steps 1 to 8 for additional transmitters.
10. Operate each transmitter to verify the programming.

BTW, the supplmental instructions have a Suzuki part number of 99016-54G20-015 (dtd July 2002).

I don't have a scanner at home so emailing these is a challenge. Please let me know how you make out....

Default Thanks

Stormin'
Thanks for the info on reprogramming the remote. I don't recall getting that info w/ my manual.

I've had probs with my remote. Batteries didn't help. After paying attention to how it acted over a period of time, the best I could conclude was that it didn't seem to like to work well in colder weather. Seems fine when warm.

Thanks again,

Pat
