Apparently, this is a longstanding problem. The unit is relatively easy to get to. Just remove the trim and its only held in by 2 screws. Pull the electrical connector and inspect the bulb. I don't know where you can buy the bulb, but I bent the tabs to ensure better contact and it works most of the time. On other occasions, I bang the dash above the meter until it lights. Good luck!
had the same problem, and it turned out to be circuit board in clock /temp display is no good , need to replace unit / or get creative, and run a new lamp, w/ a very small bulb, or led and tap wires from bulb holder into wires that feed power to lamps when park lites are on and put it into hole in back where original bulb was.
This is funny. I didn't realize it was a problem. Just figured it was a stupid programming error. I just stick my cell in the display panel and when I want to know the time I look at it... I can never read the clock radio with the headlamps on.
my 04 Aerio has the exactly same problem as somebody described at following blog:
the clock/temp backlight goes off when trunning on the headlight. Submitted the problem to SUZUKI CA.No reply.Does anyone here know how to fix it?Thanks!
If your comfortable hands/on & can solder, search "clock light aerio" on the net
It took me an hour & I'm real A.D.D
Greg, thank you for the input.I have searched the net on this, but still couldn't find the cure.I don't think it is bulb problem since the backlight works fine if the headlight is off.Greg, would you please refer me the web pages or share your experience with me? appreciate your help! I should have no problem for the DIY .
awesome! the backlight of clock/temp is back to work!

I think "jimmeyfingers" posted, anyway, there,s a three page thread that gets into detail, I'm posting on the last page, but read it all, it's good.
I thought it was actually easy.
good luck & let us know how it works out
Hi Greg, thank you so much! the backlight is working fine now after I soldered the 430 & 270.It took me 15 min to do this, but I spent 1+ hrs to study the posts and the photos at aeriostyle.com before I did the work.During my soldering,I did discover the one soldering pin of the 430 is loose.I think it is the root cause.Thank you! and now I'm going to post this at aeriostyle and thank the great people there!!! Before your reference,I was even unable to google out aeriostyle.
