Red face Fog Lights for an 04 Areo

Has anyone installed stock fog lights in an areo that didn't have any. I put in the switch, relay, fuse and lights. After all this the fog lights don't work and now the clocks back lit display turns off when the head lights get turned on (The clock problem could have been there before light problem but not sure). I traced all the wires and found that they should work. the green on light on the switch and fog lights light up if i ground one of the wires on the relay side of the relay. Also when i turn on the head lights the switch icon comes on. Does anyone know if there is a light control box or anything like that? I would like these lights to work like facroty so when the high beams come on the fog lights turn off. I also know that there is no deffrence in the light switch on the stering colum between models equiped with fog lights and those with out. I have a friend that works at an auto recking yard that has been helping me but we can not find any differences. PLEASE HELP! Thanks!

Was this a factory kit you bought, or did you buy all the bits separately.

If it was a kit, then there should have been a instruction shhet with it.

I would try the following.

The wires that go from the relay to the lites, by pass the relay by removing the wires. Apply a jumper lead to the battery positive, will only need to be a light type of wire, and see if the lights come on.

Very good chance that the lite will. In that case you have ruled out a problem withing the lamps, which could most likely be a bad earth. Or the bulbs are bad.

If the lites work OK, then try putting power to the relay, if the lights work you have ruled out two problems, if the lites do not work, then you have a bad relay.

If the lites still work through the relay, then the next likely problem is the from the switch to the relay. Remove the switch and remove the wire from the switch to the lites, put your trusty jump lead to that wire and the lites should come on.

Now that does not yet mean the switch is bad, because the switch may not be getting any volts. Take off the power lead to the switch, that is the one coming in and put your 12 volt jumper lead to input side of the switch, turn the switch on and your lites should come on. If they do not then you have a bad switch.

Switch Ok then we must consider that the switch is not getting any power from the fuse. You can check that with either a voltmeter, by the way these are only cheap to buy, $5 should get you one, or by using a bulb applying the lead that goes to the switch, and by grounding the base of the bulb. Bulb should lite up.

If it does not then it means no power to the switch. So now we do what some would have done first, check the fuse for the fog lites, it may have been blown whilst you were putting all the bits in.

You must do this task in a logical way, checking what is good, coming back up the line, one stage at a time.

The only other thing it can be, is the fuse board not allowing power through, and in your case I would suggest you get a auto electrician check that, as you could cause more problems than you solve.

Regards

Col

I bought all the bits from a friend at an auto recking yard. I have tried all of those things. The lights work fine. I get power to the switch and from the switch the power goes to the relay and fuse just fine. The problem is that there is no ground on the other side of relay. I took the whole relay box off and there is wires if I remeber corectly they are white with black stripe. I disconected the suposed ground wire and made my own ground and the lights work but they do not turn off while the high beems are on witch they should do. I am curious to know if there is a problem with somthing else like a signal control box or an console inverter. I found that an iverter could be the problem with my clock as it could have just been couincedence that the clock light problem came up at the same time of the fog light install. Any other help would be great and thanks for yer input!

Hello folks I had a break through. I havn't been able to talk to suzuki cuase they are so damn busy as they put it wounder why! Anyway I got it all working today. My friend that works at the recking yard called suzuki for me and got to talk with a tech. I was missing a secound relay behind the glove box. SImple as that. I payed only 20$ for the lights and got the switch, the relays and fuse for free. If anyone is having problems with this install let me know. I am going to put up the diagrams the suzuki tech gave my friend for all too know. This install was all bolt on and no modifications. Bascally all you need is about 30 min of time to install!

Red face Rear fog lamp

I'm from Indonesia, right now I'm looking for rear fog lamp, which installed near the license plate.

Coz I don't want to make modification from reverse lamp (bright acrylic to painted with red color).

somebody now where I could get the rear fog lamp?

I got my front and rear fog lights from a Canada auto parts shop. They offer them low-priced and deliver in 1-2 days.
