Default Question about the radio?

I see there's a "aux" on the radio. What can I use this for? Is there a plug for this somewhere? 2006 Aerio SX AWD

Default 2006 "AUX" input

FYI

All of the 2006 Suzuki Products from Japan (Grand Vitara, XL_7 and Aerio) have an AUX input prewired under the dash. You do not need a CD changer for it to work, it does not require the use of the ce-net.

It Requires a special adaptor cable to active it and tell the stereo something is attached.

Suzuki does not offer this cable.. but.. I have figured out the circuit required to active the input. (only took a few hours on my back under the dash of my Aerio )

I now have cables available for anyone interested. It has a plug, with the circuit built in to activate the "AUX" option on the deck, and fits into the factory connector under the dash . The cable is about 3.5 feet long and has a 3.5mm male stereo plug on the end

Once the cable is installed, you can press the CD/AUX button and it will cycle between the 2 options and the Display will say "AUX LOW". If you press the Seek up or down, it will change the input gain from "Low"- "MID"- "HI"

It takes less then 5 minutes to install. I have tested this in all models and it works perfectly.

Please e-mail me if you are interested:

tim(dot)mccabe(at)sympatico(dot)ca for details.

Cheers,

Tim

Is this where a amplifier plugs into? What can you use this for?

Default AUX input

This cable gives you an AUX input into the stereo, so you can listen to an MP3 player, DVD player, Sat radio... what ever you want, as long as it has a headphone jack to plug into.

There is a plug behind the glove box that my cable plugs into, this activates the AUX function in the stereo. The other end of the cable has a headphone plug that you plug into the audio device you want to listen to.

Here is a picture of the radio display in my Aerio with the cable installed..

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Cheers,

Tim

You say the plug is behing the glove box?

It's not accesible by opening the glove box?

Default AUX plug

All,

The plug connector is taped to a wiring harness near the ECM on the 06 Aerio. It is a white 6 pin connector.

If you pop the damper off the right side of the glove box door, you can then squeeze the glove box sides to flip it down and get easy access to the plug.

The cable is not available from any retailer, or Suzuki, I make the cable myself.

Please PM, or e-mail me if you are interested.

Cheers,

Tim

Actually part#990B0-35000 is the Ipod adapter which does the same function, makes a aux plug available from inside the glove box.

The iPod adaptor works just with the iPod through the ce-net.

My cable allows the CD/AUX input to function with any accessory having a headphone jack to plug into.

Cheers,

Tim
