My 2003 Aerio CD Changer will not play any cds, and gives me an error code of "3" when I insert one. Any suggestions?

Hi Because you said "any CDs" it strikes me as a communication problem. This same type of problem drove me nuts when my mom's Altima wasn't recognizing CDs and giving an error code. In the end? Disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes solved the problem. It's worth a try.

Also, I did a quick search on the web for Suzuki error codes and couldn't find any, however I did come across some GM codes. While they don't have an error code of 3, they do have 23 and 33 for CD players and changers, respectively. I'll just copy/paste what I found, though the battery disconnect/reconnect seems to be the fix. Beyond that, I'd take it to the dealer. Good luck bro.

Keep in mind these are GM explanations, so don't go to a ACDelco center, heh:

Quote:
E23 : Communications Error Cause(s): There is a vehicle/radio communication problem or an internal radio communication problem. Correction(s): Disconnect battery voltage to the radio and then reconnect after a few minutes. If there is still an error, send the unit to an ACDelco® Service Center.

Inspect for correct voltage at all connectors. If there is still an error, service the unit at an ACDelco® Service Center.

I might be a day late and a dollar short, but I have the same problem. I pulled my 6 disc changer (head unit) out and opened it up to make sure nothing was wrong. And nothing was. I ended up cleaning the lens head because I was already in it with a mild head cleaner.

My problems seems to have "diminished" since then. I did read on another forum (not sure which one) that if you brought down your WRITE SPEED on CDRs this will help. I am yet to test this.

I've gotten an "Error 3" message before. All the error codes should be listed inside the car's user manual. The error apparently means that it's just unable to read the disk because it's too scratched or just a bad cd. But when mine did that i just gave it a little off time and it worked after a little bit. It seemed to be more like a tempermental thing. My player also skips really bad when it's even the slightest bit cold. I can barely listen to any of my cds. Anyway, I hope this helped.
