Default Tires...oem

Alright so I suck at titles so you'll have to forgive me. Anyways I know at least on my little 07 reno my tires are 195/50/15 82h(have no idea what that h is for) and yeah I know dinky tires.

So now for the problem, I've done gone and did 'research' on tires cheap-expensive. And I've found out I know nothing! I'm just looking for a good priced/quality tire that does good on long drives. I manage about 101.8 miles Mon-Fri for work and my current tires are reaching their deaths. So I turn to you all knowledgeable people.

What tires work best for you, like grippage, road & highway noise. Ah current tires are ectsa. (I think that's how you spell it) And I'm really not liking the highway noise/vibration they make.

And I've had front end alignment done, balance and rotate. It's just an annoying vibration nothing major.

I know this is getting long and outta control just thought I'd like to say is, I've never (knock on wood!!!) had major problems, except for that stupid oil leak by the oil plug bolt thing!

thanks for the heads up and comments

I went with the 195/55R-15 KUMHO ECSTA ASX (which were not OEM on my '07 Reno). They are wearing well after about 8,000 miles now. I don't think I'll get any more than 30,000 out of them, about what I got out of the OEMs. But they're a little quieter, and are rated for better wet/snow/ice traction. Haven't had any snow since buying them. They're definitely better in the rain, but that's relative to the OEMs which suck at just about everything a tire can.

Kumho Ecsta ASX

i cant recommend good tires but i can say that the ones i got from americas tire company, Bravuris Barums are not good tires to go with. I only got about 20,000 miles before I had to replace them again, almost all freeway miles, and about 7 months. since then it has been about 6 months and one is already almost bald again, but I do recommend Americas Tire Company because they did give me a great price when the tires had to be replaced so soon.
Your best bet for finding a good set of tires, is asking questions, go into every tire store in the area and ask what they recommend, then google them and see what people are saying.

as for what the H means and what you need to know about the numbers, here is a good link to answer that. What Do Those Numbers on the Tire Mean?

as soon as i get my car back i will let you know what i have. i replaced them in 06 in the spring and i have driven in shipyards, city, and high way. I've put close to 70,000 miles on my car and only replaced the tires once and they still are usable. i say usable cause they are really worn but the wear indicators aren't visible yet. i'm hoping they last untill i get taxes back to get new ones

ok the h stands for the speed rating. h is capable of 145 to 155 mph, t is a lil worse, and s is the worst, to get a better speed rating, look toward a u or z rated tire, but the higher the speed rating the softer the rubber is in the tire which means, smoother more quiet ride, but tires dont last as long, i have zr rated tire, that mean capable of 200 + mph, but that means handles great low noise, but dont last long, as for your oem tire size, you can run a 205/55/15 they will be a tad more pricey, but in the long run you'll like the better grip, and the added ride softness with the best wear go with an h rated tire, khumo ecstas are the right price for that size, they ride and grip great and also have a good wear pattern

well yes, but no, most tire companys will tell you is only good for that speed, but to be dot approved they usually build the tire to withstand higher speeds, as long as you have a good name brand tire they are usually good for about 15 mph over the rating.
