Default First Zuki

Hello all,I just got my first zuki (06 RENO).Before this all I owned where Hondas/ACURAS and Nissans. My question is about cutting my springs on the Reno.I have a big family and money is a little tight to do it the right way.And I can't stand the way my car looks stock.(4x4)I am just use to having lowered cars.I need some input.Does anyone have any pictures of lowered Renos.Any info will help.

I wouldn't suggest cutting stock springs. It's a crap shoot at best. All to often folks end up with poor ride quality, worsened handling characteristics, suspension components bottoming out, tire rub interference probs and alignment issues causing excessive tire wear. To do it right, you need to obtain the properly engineered lowering springs with progressive spring rates designed for your application AND re-align the vehicle hopefully to OEM specs (if you still can) after the spring mod.

I don't have any pictures, but a lot of the guys on here have lowered Renos. You can get a good set of Apex lowering springs for like $230 plus shipping. Check out Kinky Motorsports or SPT.

Lots of people, even experts say no to cutting springs, but I looked into it very heavily and if you do it right then there are little risks, but doing it wrong can be very bad.

Unfortunitly my computer crashed last week so I can't help you much, I had a very very long write up on if you cut the springs this way and that way how the spring rates and everything change. If you can find something like that, then I'd suggest cutting your springs. Whatever you do don't just go out and cut them, different heat levels alone will do tons of different things to a spring.
