I prefer to not have ABS. Same with traction control and other so called active safety systems. I want full control over my vehicle. I learned to drive in snow on an old LTD station wagon. If I can drive that fine I can drive a small light FWD car even better. When I was looking for a car I looked for manual trans and no abs.

I also live without ABS... It's been proven to make things worse on ice in some cases.
Plus it's great to avoid those costly sensors/parts replacements once the car warranty ended.

The SRT has ABS but the wifes Reno doesn't. Go figure cause I don't like ABS to much unless in the snow.

Yes I do know how to modulate/threshold break. Still need a little work on my trail breaking.

The best thing you can do is go to a driving school. Especially if you don't have ABS. Hopefully I can send the wife this year.

I have seen cars that have ABS not respond like they are suppose to. The only way ABS really works is if your going in a near straight line and you don't have the steering wheel cranked to far in either direction. If you have ever locked up your breaks in any situation (other than weather related i.e. snow/heavy rain) I suggest you go to a driving school. It really pisses me off that people don't know how to drive their cars and lock up their brakes.... sorry but after you've been in an accident because people are stupid you tend to get a little pissed

I also don't have ABS and learned how to drive without it. I have driven cars with it and I actually don't like it becuase to me it takes away some of control over the braking. I have only come close to locking my brakes on my Reno, but I have yet to actually lock them up.

There are some safety features that I do like and would like to have, one is already on the car which is the SSPS. I like the way you get power steering at low speeds but at faster speeds you get less and less power steering.
