Default I Beat A Honda!!!!! :)

Ok so it was only a Fit and it was an auto but I still beat him, question is why did i only win by a tenth (I was in havana IL on the 1/8th mile track). I hit every gear right on but he was right there the entire time. Any ideas as to why a 1.5L honda fit kept up with my 2.0L Forenza?

the fit is light as hell...not to mention honda's engineering is a little better than Holden-GM

oh thats lame. guess in need to lighten up my forenza and make it fast. (I would say faster but when it ran a 17.9 in the 1/8th its pretty disapointing. Of course this is the first time ive been racing since I got rid of my Supercoupe

Here are some clues:

Honda Fit:
Horsepower @ rpm (SAE net) 117 @ 6600
Torque (lb-ft @ rpm) 106 @ 4800
Curb Weight (lbs, AT) 2575
Power to Weight Ratio (HP/lb): 0.0454

Forenza
Horsepower (@ rpm) 127 @ 5600
Torque (lb-ft @ rpm) 131 @ 4200
Curb Weight (lbs) AT-2855 MT-2756
Power to Weight Ratio (HP/lb): 0.0460 for MT and 0.0445 for AT

As you can see, the power to weight is very similar, so the cars should run similar times in the 1/4 and 1/8 given equal drivers.

Another thing to think about is the gearing. My auto Reno ends 1st at *40mph*. That seems downright silly to me. The Hondas have better gearing to maximize MPG and acceleration realative to the engine RPMs and torque.
