i dont know how many of you have heard about "operation crack down" but here in San Diego,CA many of the local car ethusiasts are trying to fight it...a couple wednesdays ago the cops invaded one of the meets, and gave 32 tickets and impounded 3 cars...ridiculous...channel 10 news in San Diego,CA covered the story, and according to Chula Vista,CA (PD) and SDPD the reason they came and wrote so many tickets, and impounded cars was because of "illegal street racing" which in fact is a little interesting to me...now friends of mine are coming up with a plan to fight this "operation crack down"...i was just curious of how many people are having the same problem in there city...let me know im just a little curious...

We had something similar happen here in the past. Cops bust the main tim hortans in Woodbridge about 2 years ago. Then they tried to come up with a law to stop all car modifications from body work to engines (thankfully the aftermarket industry here challenged the law and the logic behind it). It interesting as the cops want to stop street racing but all they do is push the races to other spots. I've got a sugestion open up a few mroe tracks and lower the admission fee as well as make it open all week. But no thats thinking and the cops would not make their quota.

Fixed one quarter panle and salvaged my front bumper now to save for a new one possible a DC2 if the wify will let me.
There are a few names that are being closely watched around my area. But it is only these few names that are being "cracked" down on. Our town only has a hand full of cars that are even close to lookin like a racer so the rest of us "stock" looking guys AKA no 4" exhaust tips, a factory dark looking tint, stock body and such are untouched.
the way i see it, if you hang out with known street racers, then you are puttin yourself into "their" situations. when i was in south carolina, the car scene got crowded with ricers and street racers after those retarded fast and furious movies. so the older, more mature crowd(non-street racers), seperated ourselves from them. the cops would never bother us, because they knew we only raced on the track. a lot of times theyd stop by to chat for a little bit.
as far as the cops writing tickets and impounding, the only way i could see them legally doin that is if the car was already breakin the law....i.e double parkin(which so many ppl do at gatherings), red/blue neons on, flashing strobes on, etc. then, its fair game, because they will nit-pick everything on the car now. thats the insider info we got from a couple of the cops that dropped by.
sorry for the long response, it sounded shorter in my head, lol.
The cops are runnin undercover cars in the bigger cities around me. they have a couple of riced out civics and an eclipse and try to get people to race. but u get no more than a block away and they drop behind u and turn on the red and blues. it sucks and is very expensive.

And most probably illegal of them as that is I believe entrapment.
Theyve been doin it for about 4 or 5 years now so if its entrapment no one has tried to get it shut down. All they did was push all the street racing to the side of town that the cops aren't on (which is the side that doesnt have the mall and other high traffic spots)
yeah they same thing happend in australia
we used to have a real big race care sence where u could just go chill out have a good time...one or two burnouts and races...but we didnt bother anyone but ourselves
then cops tore it down blocking in all the exits and like majorty of people just got fined for being there?????
so since then nuthing realy happens down here and when it does 100's of cars turn out because it doesnt happen so often but cops r always aware of when something is going down
yer we have undercover cop cars aswell that try to race you then pull u over, thats the biggest amount of bulldust iv ever heard..they provoke the driver to break the law then fine them.....were is the justice in that

thanks for everyone's responses... as far as the undercover cop thing goes, i dont really think i see it as entrapment simply because we're "not suppose" to be racing in the first place lol...and i LOVE the fast & the furious movies...
