okay bro...
i lived in Japan for a year (Iekego) Yokosuka Japan... you could call it a suburb of Yokohama (i spent allot of time there). My "friend of a friend" as you call it is actually a "few friends" with JDM swaps.
You called the Type R a "DC2" which is true.. such as the Integra LS is a "DC2" as i stated all 94-01 integra's are DC2's which is funny b/c you said the ITR is known as DC2. You can have an A DC2 94-01 Integra LS which is like saying milwaukee's best is world renowned beer when its only know as piss in the US while the ITR (also DC2) is like a shot of Patron... i have had my Integra since i got it off the show room floor... the altitudes and and higher compression ratio for the ITR in Japan MAKE you need higher octane fuels.. dont think i dont know what im talkin bout... why does it need 104 octane? because its got a 11:1 compression ratio? why??? the K20 runs 91 octane fine on a 11.5:1 ratio.... I have had my Integra since it was on the showroom floor at Acura. I have been in the Honda scene for allot longer than the forenza has even been out. I have ties with a "few" Honda shops.
the truth is.. I have been tuning my "Honda" since 2001 do you really want to go back and forth with me...

Oh yeah i have a "friend of a friend" AKA me running a JDM GSR motor w/ a 10.6:1 compression... guess what it runs just fine on new jersey 93octane

Dude you OBVIOUSLY do not know since you "thought" the ITR was called the "DC2"

... i've been doing this for years ...
you dont need to send me useful links since i have been on the integra forums for 7 years.... thanks anyways

I love my Suzuki but some of these posts make me want to vomit...

well as i said if you want some decent info on the type-r contact me personally and id be happy to send you some links. this isnt a pissing contest iv been into the honda "sceen" as you call it since my 90 civic came off the lot and been working on cars allot longer. living in japan does not make you an expert on anything sorry but im sure a very interesting expierience. and by saying your gsr motor runs fine you obviosly didnt read my post so i will restate:
if you want the jdm type-r motor to run correctly and to its full potential you need to run the intended gas wich we dont have in the us.
but again everyone on the forums is an expert.

exactly its not a pissing contest.... I'm just saying what i know as a technician/mechanic compared to here and there (since i've been there) the octane is higher. If you look at the demographics its because most of the altitudes are allot higher since its mostly mountains. if you've ever lived or even driven through a mountain region you would see that octane levels are higher since the oxygen levels are lower at higher altitudes (dont get me started on elements and chemicals i deal w/ them on a daily basis).
I'm sure you have wisdom if you've been in the honda game since 90, i just have allot of knowlege directly related to what i do for a living

C'mon guys.... we musn't fight over who stabbed who... ha in all honesty I know Advance Auto Parts carry some pretty sweet Type R badges and some flashy GT R badges.... none the less I have seen one, maybe two Type Rs floating around Wilmington, but they were running so poorly that either they stuck a badge on it to make the car feel better about itself or they dogged the car so much that the car resented the driver
