I guess I should say a couple of things first before getting in to the short story.
First of all, I'm pretty sure the driver was messing with me.
Secondly, I guess I have an issue where I'll try going against nearly any car despite what it is - though, I'm certain I wouldn't even try cars like Supras, Camaros, 'vettes, etc...
Driving to work this morning, came upon a red light with three driving lanes. An Infiniti is in the last one to the right, and I pull up behind it. As the light turns green, we start rolling and slowly reach up to 30. Finally, we hit the speed limit of 40.
We pass the car that had been in the middle lane, and I see that a VW in the lane furthest left had pulled ahead of everybody. Going through a curve, I change into the middle lane and draw up on the end of the Infiniti.
I wasn't really trying to pass him or do anything at that moment, just kinda watching him. We're probably driving around 50mph. Well, as soon as he starts actively trying to pull away from me, I press the gas pedal down about halfway to draw up right beside him. I see that he starts to gas it, too, so I put the pedal to the floor.
Not surprisingly, he pulled ahead about half-three-quarters of a car length. Then I started gaining on him. After I started gaining on him, I noticed that right as I was catching his nose, he must've let off the gas - I sure as hell know there's no way my car could've taken him that easily! Aside from that, I have a bad habit of not checking out my speedometer when I'm taking someone on, but I reckon we were close to 70, so, not that fast at all.
So, my fun morning. Haha.
Do you remember or know what Infiniti it was? Because it sounds like it was either a low powered Infiniti, or the guy was playing with you. I am leaning to a low end powered one because if the guy had a G35 for example he should have pull on you a lot faster than he did.
You know, I wish I had paid attention to that, too.
I know it was a newer model because of the design of its backside. But I think you may be right about a low end powered one because it seems like he just decided to bag the whole idea.
^^^^
I cant think of an infinity produced in the lat ten years that wouldnt whooop one of our Renos, either from a stand still or a 50mph roll. The losest powered Infinity right now is the G35, and thers no chance against one of those and its 275hp. Before that you have to go back to the 2003 I35s, and they still have a 3.5L V6 putting out around 240hp.
I am not saying our cars can woop an Infiniti by any means. I was just asking if untainted got the model of the car. Because I am kinda surprise the Infiniti did not pull faster on untainted. I had a couple of Infiniti G35's that have pulled on me a lot more than this one did.
Well, like I said, I'm pretty sure the driver was just messing around because I have no doubt he would've whooped me.
The only interesting thing is, as my boyfriend pointed out to me, if the driver was playing around, they would not have stopped..but probably just hit it to get rid of me. Who knows...
Yeah...if i payed $32,000 for an infinite and got beat by a Reno?..I'd be pissed lol... stick to racing honda's, corollas, and scions
Uh I have raced like 10 cars over the 30k price mark. I have beaten one of the Porchse SUV's, and was able to hang with the low end BMW's. If you take a look at the cars raced in the WTCC, you would see that BMW has their 320si in it. And I believe our Lacetti has beaten the BMW one a couple of times already.

Nah...
I guess I'm a sucker for punishment, then...
With some cars, you don't know what you can and cannot beat.
There are cars I already listed that would be a waste of my time to go up against. I know I can't keep up with my boyfriend's Dodge truck. I know I can't keep up with Lexus cars, even older models.
But I do know that I can keep up with or beat the V6 Hyundai Tiburon, certain BMWs, Fords, Hondas, Scions, Toyotas, etc.
