Default Forenza VS Mustang.. also drift racing

Well about a month ago now I was sitting at a traffic light when some 30 year old attempting to go back to his youth challenged me by reving his engine and giving the lets go look... So the light flipped to green and Boom I was off... to my suprise.. I took him with plenty of room, then again, he seemed to not really know how to work the stick... I saw his car jerking all the way.. it was quite amusing.. when we got to the next light, he didnt look at me.. and turned off as soon as he could.. oh, and the drifting part, took my forenza out drift racing today, thing ripped it up, this was just for fun though..

Your the first person I know of to drift our car. I hope you have coil covers and sway bars on, because I am pretty sure our stock suspension can not handle drifting.

I can not help to jump in here, When I was stationed in Japan I learned to drift and did it for about six years. Let me tell you, a Forenza will not drift. Yes, I have seen FWD cars drift, and some reasonably well, but a stock Forenza...not no, but hell no. I used to own one before my Reno. You may get the rear to slide a bit on a turn, but that is not drifting. Drifting is an art form that if you do not have some practice and experience at you can not just jump in a car and do it right. It is not powersliding or fishtailing. And it is drifting, not drift racing. There is no race to it.

Okay, drift king, as I said, we were just having fun, I didnt check the official rule book, all I know is I was sliding sideways for quite a distance, but its more of a northern twist to it, because it was in one of our many great ice covered parking lots.. you are correct however, I couldnt keep it going long, and it was more of a burn out on dry pavement, however, with more HP, I'm sure you could drift with a FWD.. but rear wheel is alot easier.. I've done it in a RWD station wagon... bitch had a V8 in it, could keep that going for a while.. obviously I'm new to the drifting scene, so if you've seen the Tokyo Drift movie... where he destroys his car the first time.. I'm just trying to not be that.. basically.. its just some cool tricks, no real racing.

oh, and piggy back that.. yea...I wouldnt recommend serious drifting on stock equipment... the suspension, and wheels cannot handle it.

First, I never claimed to be the know it all of drifting. I had not a clue what I was doing when I first started, and yes I crashed. Several times. It is part of the package, do it enough and actually try to get better and do it with faster speeds, and you will crash or hit something-guaranteed. Anyway, I just hate to see the sport bastardized. Drifting is fun and extremely challenging and I would love to see the sport grow. If I seem that I was attacking you or classifying you I apologize. Ever since the "fast and the furious" it seems like drifting and motorsprorts have lost the character that made it fun and exciting. You can not find a R34 GTR in a damn used car lot, and orange neon and stickers do not make your car faster. God I hate those movies! I am glad to see you having a good time with your car, and I am sure if I were there I would have been playing on the ice as well. Like I said, I am sorry if I seemed like I was attacking you, but it is a sport that I love, and have put lots of blood sweat and money into.

oh, absolutly, no hard feelings, I get where your comming from, I love to go to car shows and look at all the pretty cars.. but I cant stand when people throw some "sponsor" stickers on their car, a few neons and think they are un stoppable... I love the FF movies, but I also realize its a movie. I know what my car can do, I know it isnt the fastest car on the street.. but its fun, and I'm poor, so when I have more money, Ill probably have a fast car.. haha... but ya, its really cool that you did some real drifting.. as for me, I was just screwing around.. everyone seems to call sliding around drifting these days though..
