Default This morning on the strip

So I went with a friends local car club to a a local strip (not an actual race strip, more of a "special event road shut down" strip) this morning.

I competed completely stock 06 Forenza a total of 5 runs down the 1/4 mile.

I was placed in the NA Stock class for <150hp.

My first run down the 1/4 was a Honda Civic hatchback, probably an early to mid 90's, not sure really didn't talk to the prick, he was a dick.

Anywho, as we're sitting at the line waiting for the portable tree to flash down to green he's rev'ing and rev'ing high at probably 5 grand. I'm sitting there, clutch on the break point rev'ing around 3.5. Tree hit green and I popped the clutch out after rev'ing down to 3 grand, small spin of the tires and I'm off. I look forward only while running (the perverbial don't look behind or the dog'll get ya), I hear him spinning like mad crazy. Anywho I ended up smoking him by 2.5 seconds in that 1/2.

Next run was a 02 Cavalier. I'm rev'ing the same as before while he's doing nothing, no rev'ing no nothing. Tree hits green, I find out why, he's auto. Surprisingly he only lost by .231 seconds, it was a close match.

That bumped me to the finals of my class. My next run was against a scion xB (stupid shoe box cars). Yea, well I lost this time by about a half second which knocked me out of the rest of the strip runs.

Other than street runs on the local circuit this is the best racing I've done in this car.

I do have to say I'm impressed by the performance, as if I wasn't before. I made a few friends while out there, I was the only zuk on the runs and everyone was laughing at first, then gave mad respect afterwards.

This run was hosted by the local police department surprisingly. It's their way of attempting to cease illegal street racing and give us a place to get the fuel out of our veins.

My fastest run was 15.742 which interstingly wasn't my fastest speed run. My fastest speed run was 138mph at the finish line.

Next endevor is autocross which I've never done, but it looks like fun.

The only bitch is that all of our tags were documented by the police dept, as they said "It's to look out for those that like to race but do so illegally" I hope this doesn't have any repurcusions while driving normal.

There's my first story, not exciting but damnit, it was fun for me!

+1...your car shouldn't even be able to hit 138mph stock..as I can't even do it with 25% more power to the wheels and lowered 4".

and the 15.7 doesnt seam right either...stock should be 16.8-17.00. The scion xb does 16.8-18 stock as well....was it stock?

Things dont match up...maybe if you had different tires, heated, and it was really cold out

That's what the radar showed, and no it wasn't a 1/4. I've gotten mine to 140ish already on the highway, why do you say it won't? *shrugs*

I dunno about the scion, he was in the stock class they set up with me so other than cai and minor things I doubt it.

Hmm, can you get video or picture?

Cuz 112mph is what reveiws say it tops out at stock...I couldnt get mine past 130 on a major down hill back when I had lowering springs, sri, axle back exhaust.

Now I'm making 25% more hp to the wheels than stock and my cars lowereed about 4" and it barley climbs after 137...139 would be pushing it. Which is also at 6k rpms almost exactly, our power drops off at 5600rpm stock so I cant see making it past that

On a day to day basis my car tops out at 130, it'll only go faster on good days. It'll hold 128-130mph for as far as I want, hell I've held the pedal down for as long as about 7miles and it wouldnt push any furthur.
