DUBE welcome aboard. I will tackle a few things here and give some advice, take it for what it is. But please do not think I am talking down to you or trying to discourage you. We have not spoke at all and I do not know what the level of your knowledge is so Im going with its no more than how to drive or change oil.
First lets get the info questions on the car out of the way. This is your best place to post questions as Deawootech covers alot of territory that has nothing to do with your car and it would be easier to get the info you need by asking here because a few members are very familar with the other site and can point you at what you need. There are a few of us that have spent a few years now digging threw the www. for any info on these cars. So any hard searching on your part would be re-inventing the wheel. We have a member that had a business selling parts for these cars and he can hook you up with where to get what and what car model its for. Im not saying don't look for things on the net just be aware we spend alot of time doing that so others don't have to.
Educate your self, what has been said by the other members is pretty correct. You seem to want to learn how to do the work your self, heres my advice on that. Learning how to tune cars is a huge undertaking and you have to be willing to live it, own it and let it take over your life or you won't get far. many people just choose to learn the basic ideas and concept so they know what they want but have the work done for them, this is fine, no shame in it, but some where down the line you will have to make the choice of which you want to do and the sooner you make that choice the better for you. Ive spent better than 15 years at it and still am no expert. Consider your self a sponge and soak the knowledge from every where until you think about performance in your sleep and then soak up more.
Your car. This is strait opinion, don't try to jump in and startmodding your car with out a lot of fore thought and some education. The difference in how well a project turns out usually has little to do with the parts you add but with having a thought out plan and goals. Ive seen people throw gobs of money and every performance part they could at a car and end up with crap. Having to change your mind or deal with conflicts can become expensive and ruin the fun, and fun is what this realy is about.
Decide what you expect from the car and how you want to use the end product, wether it be a street monster, a week end racer or just some nice mods to make the car a little more fun, this is what will determine how to best proceed.
Im not going to say anything about what parts you should buy, because like I said that will be determined by your plan and I don't think you are to that yet.
In my opinion you have the best car on the market for tuning based on these facts. Potential, these cars are capable of being serious performers and came greatly equiped to tune. Price, you got way more for your money here prbably than you realise and definetely more for your buck than any other brand. Rarity, while Forenzas and Renos are becoming more common, modding them is still taking baby steps so its not like a civic where you see tuned ones every where.
Im always willing to answer questions as are many members here, so don't be afraid to ask and remember to keep it fun, I can't stress that enough.
Thanks for the reply dog. It was very helpful. Cars are something that I love driving, but I dont know crap about. And I wish to change that. This is my first car that I have bought, Im only 20, but I like it a lot.
I know this is a silly question, but is there any way to turn a car from an auto transmission to a manual transmission? And would it do any good, or would it be a waste of time/money? I really wanted a standard, but my girlfriend at the time couldn't drive one, so I had to sacrafice it Also cost me more money
Also, what could I add to make it go faster, etc? Im not looking to race this car, just to have more fun with it. Any other ideas that I could add to it to make it more "fun"?
Thanks guys!
Also is the aerio better than the forenza? I was debating on which one was better. The aerio looks more sport/faster. Just wondering what your input on that was as well.
Also Also, Do you know of any good sites to get things for the forenza for? Basics things I wanna start out with is: Racing seats, new headlights, new rims, lcd navigation, gauges, tint, wing for back, etc.

it can be done (i helped a buddy do that to his 02 Z28) but i highly recommened selling yours for one that is a manual. alot easier that way.
agreed camaroguy,
switching ATX to MTX costs more than it's worth, unless you're doing a full engine swap at the same time *drools over the Cobalt SS engine*
as for some fun stuff to do, sound system is an obvious answer, it doesn't cost toooo much and it can make your drive to work quite enjoyable. It's also something you can do yourself to help get a handle on how the interior comes apart and such. Body kit is another way to go, although hard to find for our car, it is available. cold air, or short ram intake would be my first move. it adds some performance, makes the car sound cool, and looks great under the hood (our car is great for it too, lotsa space under the hood to do what you'd like). look around at pics and find stuff you think looks good, and go from there.
