Default morning traffic slalom = me+1

after work my coworker and i head out to the parking lot...
he gets into a stock 96' integra...
we exit the parking lot and head towards the freeway...
first he takes me on the last street to the on ramp swerving through traffic to get to me, sounded like he had an intake.
we swerved in and out of traffic him in the lead, but i just sat back and relaxed while keeping an eye on my radar.
but then i saw a decent openning and took him at 120 right as he put it in 5th, but i still had him.
he followed me at 110-120 in and out of traffic till my offramp.
pretty nice run so early in the morning and with cops awake.

Streetracing=Stupid
Remember there are alot of us on the roads with kids in the car. I would go on a rant about this, but I will keep it simple. Keep the racing on the tracks please. If you can't possibly do that at least stick to some backroads or something. There is no need whatsoever to be weaving in and out of traffic at those speeds.

i love early morning driving, just enough traffic to make it interesting. Some dude in a Jetta tried to race me off the line at a red yesterday morn, there's about 100 meters after this light before his lane ended, he pulled up next to me, and gave me a look, trying to decide if he had a chance. he judged wrong, and tried to race me. needless to say, he was tail gating me the rest of the drive to work.

sorry jax
usually i get in these situations on my way to work, around 230am, and never have to deal with anything more than a few trucks. but if it makes you feel better, i was keeping it safe i slowed down when i got in front to about 80 for a while next to a car in the slow lane to keep my friend from passing, and i only made that one pass when i had a nice window of obortunity, from there i tried to end the race it was obvious he had been taken. its not like i do this every morning, i usually shift at 3500 on my way home.
sometimes the dumb part of the brain takes over and says SPEED

NO. Absolutely do not apologise or think you have to explain your self to him. It is very clear by the name Street Encounters that this section is the appropriate place to discuss this topic. You posted your opinion, do not hijack this thread with a dogooders battle against street racing the amount of attention and flaming you will recieve will amaze you and you will be considered a troll.

Just to drive the point home, this is a quote from an other respected member.

See I won't disagree with your statement, but you'll have to apply it to more than just racing. If you're going to be TRULY honest, apply that same statement to the following, cause they're all equally stupid and dangerous

Cell Phones in the car

Drinking (anything, not just alcohol) in the car

Eating in the car

Putting on makeup in the car

Reading while driving (including maps, signs, and GPS units)

Tallking to a passanger

Handling your kid

Not checking your blind spot

Changing the radio station/cd/mp3/itune

.....the list goes on

In fact I bet I could pull up statistics for cell phone accidents that would dwarf racing accidents. But that's not the point is it? The point is that this is merely a forum. A conduit. A place to talk and build friendship and community.

It's so easy for those of you who object to simply not read this section of the forum. You do have that ability you know. Rather than object, demean, or insult those of us who will use it, why not "change the channel"? Because when you start associating us with killers (that's how I read "A street racer caused a death so you shouldn't talk about racing here") you're going to be met with unkind words.

Why not just prevent that from the beginning and stay out of the forum if you don't like it so much.

And FYI, (since it was brought up) there ARE forums out there that talk about DWI (and worse) and how to avoid detection etc.... So why don't you go there and preach too? Personally, I don't come here to be told how to live and what to talk about with my friends.

Sorry first post didnt work right.
Dog, first off, I think you are being a bit harsh here. Here is a direct quote from you: "this is merely a forum. A conduit. A place to talk and build friendship and community" That is all I am doing here. I could understand if I had thrown a bunch of b.s. posts in all your forums here and just came in to instigate a bunch of undue bickering. That is not what I am here for. I am not here to be a preacher, or anything of the sort. I am a car lover at heart. I love building cars, working on them, customizing, or hell, even changing my oil gets my rocks off. Of course with my love of cars comes my love of competition with them, whether that be a car show, race, stereo competition; whatever.
I have owned a L28 turbo Datsun 240z, a RX-7 turbo II, and when I was in Japan I owned a few Skylines, Silvias, an AE86 Levin, and now I have a Miata awaiting a 20B swap. (and for the nonbelievers I have the pics to prove it) Obviously I love speed as much as the next guy. I am not calling myself an angel, while I was in Japan I used to drift at the loading docks, however the only others there were the ones who were there to drift, and the ones there to watch. When we tuned our cars we made every attempt to find a place that was secluded.
I was on this forum before as 2006Reno before the site had problems and I decided to open another account when I couldnt recover the other. That shows I like the forum and the people here. All I was trying to do make friends and enjoy the forum. Not everyone on a forum is going to get along, this is a place for opinions. Not everyones is identical. I dont like streetracing, that is my opinion, what is the difference between that and you saying you dont like someones rims or spoiler? I was never telling you how to live or how to speak with your friends. Anyway, I think I have alot of valuable knowledge that I have aquired over the years that I would love to share as well as gaining knowledge from everyone else here. I feel that you took my post as a personal attack and it wasnt however Dog, if you dont want me here, then let me know and I will be gone. Sorry for the long post and sorry for screwing up your post renoinreno.

dog: your opinion is much welcomed and I apreciate your support. i like the last line by the way... friends

jaxreno: apoligize is accepted and no big on the whole lets get in an argument thingy, its happenned before and its not fun.

all things set aside, i asked my coworker what was up with his car and he stated that he had recently added the cai and plans to add more... so this may not be the last encounter with his integra. if i can get my camcorder back from the wifey's mother we might have some good video. and ill try to get it on a secluded road... but i cant make any promises

No arguement and I ment what I said as a warning of what would happen not a threat of it. I was being blunt.
I read your other posts before I answered to get an idea of you before I responded. What realy is the problem with what you said was the very first part.
This section of the board has maybe 3 threads about track racing out of 3 pages of headers. The rest are about street racing and i would not recomend ever starting a post on this section with streetracing=stupid. Im sure I just spoke first but Im sure other members might have realy been harsh about it and started something with you. I wish to avoid that and let Reninreno5 carry on with his thread.

No I don't wan't you to leave. I missed somewhere that you were here under a new name. I remember reading your old posts. I took you for a here a minute newb, sorry for that.

PS damn we lost alot of stuff when the switched it up here.
