Default 88 Firebird beaten

My friend who owns a 1988 Firebird 2.8 V6 (or somewhere round there) said he wanted to meet up one day so he could check out my apartment. His car has around 80,000 miles on it, only mods on it is dual exhaust. I said we should race. He says ok. So we get out on the highway doing a steady 40, (luckily the highway was empty except for one car that we let pass us) I honk 3 times then we both punch it. Totally owned him, he was about 4 car lengths behind me and I was doing 90 before i slowed down. A little bit later on down the highway we were doing 70 over a bridge that was a pretty decent straightaway. Once again I honk three times and punch it, still leave him behind, i was about a car and a half length ahead of him before i had to slow down cuz there was a piggy up ahead trying to be slick and catch people. We were gonna race from a dead stop but after seeing 3 pigs on the way to my apartment decided not to >_>..... stupid pigs...ruining all the fun

To quote one of my favorite songs:

hey pig
yeah you
hey pig piggy pig pig pig

Seriously though. Sounds like a good kill. I think the 88 Firebird V6 had the L44 engine that produced about 140HP. So HP for HP should have been a decent matchup. Throw in some lost HP for age on the Firebird and maybe a few gained for the dual exhaust (didn't it come with that though?) and it's probably still pushing 130 or better.

Have you done your exhaust yet Nick? If so, that puts you almost if not exactly even with the Firebird HP wise. Count that the Firebird weight comes in at 3100 and that gives you the advantage by 400 lbs.

I don't know the gearing on the Firebird, but my guess is that you have the advantage there too, for highway acceleration.

All in all I say good job. I bet your friend was pretty suprised....heh
