Default I love Reno's a lot but...

Hey everyone its rhyno here, i havent been on the site in months. still tryin to get a reno but the credit thing is still holdin me down. Anyways... I'm not here to bash anyone, and i know a lot of you guys mod your engines, but to the stocky drivers with maybe a muffler and a CAI, your not really in the market of beating to much of anything on the road. I see there's a thing against preludes on here, that cool, but realize the last prelude made with less horse power then a suzuki was probably in the mid 80's. my 89 prelude was stock and it had about the same hp as the renos/ forenzas.
I love these cars and they have a lot of potential, but lets not fool ourselves into thinking there a stock powerhouse. no one is betting vettes, camaro 3.6 whatevers (the 02 v6 camaro came with like 210hp guys). it just seems like this site is filling up with stubborn headed children...sorry guys im not tryin to be mean at all and im open to discussion about it. come on a DX civic is almost an equal match to our cars. sorry to be a buzz kill but lets mod these things out and take the scene for real, no more BS stories guys, to me there getting old.

I beat the prelude and my cars far from stock. It was a good race, but I didnt struggle to beat him. It wasn't more than 8 years old either.

like i said, my comment was in reference to stock cars. I know you got some work done to yours, so im sure you where able to take a base model prelude.. depending on the year maybe even an Si... did it have triangle shaped taillights or rectangular? just curious on the gen. you beat.

I have Intake/Exhaust/Pulley, some grounding and NGK plugs and I took a Maxima from 70-100.

You know, just because you don't accept something as truth, doesn't make it any less true. Admittedly, we aren't blasting out fantastic 0-60 times, but if you could get clocked 60-100, you'd see much more comparative numbers to some higher end cars.

It's all gearing baby.....How many cars are still in second gear at 70?

rhyno - I don't know where you get the idea that we think our car stock is some power house, becuase quiet frankly we don't. Maybe the reason you say this is that if we race another car on the freeway we may beat the car becuase the type of car we have. I know my car is still stock (the only "mod" is a cone air fliter), but I have learned how to drive my car which is a huge factor in racing.

Yeah I understand what you're saying. But you pointed out the prelude story and I just wanted to make sure you knew it was me and my car isn't stock.

I know what you mean about people thinking there cars are all powerfull on the forums latly. But I think your getting the wrong idea. Alot of people say they beat these nice fast cars but they usually say they got lucky or the other driver sucked type of thing

its all good guys! obviously there are cars that a suzuki can beat. another thing these cars really hold there gears that long? whats redline? like i said ive drivin my bro's forenza but i never got on it. all BSin aside does 2nd really go to 70? is this just like a freakish thing GM let slide? '

PS.. 70-100 against a maxima to me is worthless.. call me old fashioned but you start a race not moving then drive a quarter mile as hard as you can.. then you get your victor.

Yes, 2nd does go to 70. The red lines about... 6.2K I think.
See, the long gearing means the car dosn't get up to speed fast. Its a touring car, not adrag car. It shows its thing on a street corse where theres more corners and less shear power. We Yanks like to think that all roads are desert, goes for 50 miles then corners (aka a 5% bend). I know I woant smoke a Lan Evo (and proved it also... but he never was able to catch up in the corners). No one is claiming that.
But that long gearing that makes the car so slow in the 0-60 also means that in the upper ranges, your usaly a gear or two below the others. Less shift time, more speed range left to use. I never though a 1/4 mile was long enough anyways. Muscle cars are just thinking about gripping by the time the rice runner crosses the line, but the muscle car can pass it and smoke it if you go a full mile.
If its one thing this car teaches you, its how to drive it

Heh... You must be a muscle car guy

J/K and yes, it's all good!

But come on now, you have to admit, that taking a car with almost twice the HP is nothing to sneeze at, even at 70-100. Every car has it's niche and not all racing is drag racing.

I would even say the drag racing is a small portion of all racing out there. Going from stop to a quarter mile in a straight line proves nothing about the driver IMO. It just proves how big their pocket is.

I can't wait until the Turbo guys are up and running. Even the Meth/E85 guys. I might follow the later as money/ambition permit. For now, the car is just my daily driver and I like to play.

I've already done the muscle car thing and it got boring after a while. When you have 300+ hp under the hood and people know it, you always have to "prove it". And when you do, it's no big deal....
