For an 2001 1.8 it says the 0-60mph time is high 8s. Thats about what the reno/forenza is.

once again kinky, did you read what i wrote? I said the cars are evenly matched. the kid's sayin he was playing with him in third then stepped on it then all he seen was the guys girlfriend laughing at him in the rearview. if the sentra was racing, it wouldve stayed right next to the suzuki.

You are misinformed here again. Torque and HP are NOT the be all, end all of speed.

Check the gearing for the Reno/Forenza and do the math. I will bet you that at 60mph, the Sentra was at least in third gear, where the Reno/Forenza is still in second.

All things beaing equal (as you've stated twice now) then the Reno WOULD blow out the Sentra. Same power into a smaller gear would mean bye bye Nissan.

No I read it. Another thing is generally people shift at redline and your power drops off greatly before that in nearly every car. That'll slow you down alot.

ok i'd like to add that i could hear the kids car screaming before he'd shift so i know he had to be holding gears way to long and yes anyone who's raced any knows to shift a bit before redline you can easily tell theres a massive loss of power at that high an rpm

well i dont want to turn this into a who knows more about theses cars argument, all im trying to say i dont care if the sentra as 3 gears and the reno has 5... the reno is not blowing the doors off of a 1.8 sentra! they are to evenly matched. my car has 140 hp, which is nothing, and i crap on my brothers forenza.. and i dont care about the gearing, my stock sentra is faster then his forenza. HP is not an issue when i raced my brother. ive beatin cars with my integra that had a higher HP and i do understand where your coming from when you talk about HP not being everything. you guys are comparing the gearing and racing specs of two stock economy cars..lol...they are not performance vehicles. my nissan as slow as it is, cant beat 05 civic LX's! and i have the 2.0 se20de motor! you guys im really sorry for bein a buzz kill, i still love the reno;s a lot and will own one soon, but you all got come off your high horses, these cars stock are not a sports car, they are slow!

They arnt. You seem to forget the gearing. You may not think it matters, but it does. Thats why alot of these are freeway kills, not stop light kills.
As for not performance cars, you'd be suprised. Alot of us are starting to appritiate the Forenza/Reno as a ecco sports car over an ecco box. The only reason why there slow stock is the restrinctions that lock the 2.0L in. SLow shifting due to the 10 LB pully, places inch the air intake where its an in round in the line, high back pressure on the exhaust. These do hinder your performance alot (exspecaly the shifting).

I'm sure you've done some racing, but eavenly matched at low speeds is different when that sanata ran out of gearing, and the forenza had 2 left.

Everyone want to finish this, Its easy. GET IT ON VIDEO!! I've been in enough street races or Spirited Driving to know anything is possible on the street. Difference in Cars drivers conditions all play a factor. The only thing that can prove or dis-prove is to see it yourself hince Get it on Video

I would tape me and my bro racing, but i have the 2.0 not the 1.8, so that defeats the purpose. and my nissan is an auto and i decided to pay attention to what first gear does... and it shifted at about 5800 to second at about 38 mph.. redline is 7 in my car. so im not sure what the .2 liter difference would be, but thats what my 2.0 does.
