I was crusing the strip and i see this "Prep Mobile" Gmc or Chevy Silverado. With Euro lights exhaust and A lot of SS badges on it. 1 tail gate 2 doors. And i hear it is supercharged as well. Well we race off the line. He crushes me. We try a 40 roll and he still beats me. He askes for a highway run with his buddy in a 89 300zx. So i tag along for kicks. Were doing prob 90 and i hear him go WOT so i nail it and i start pulling him almost instantly. he maxed out around 120 and i was still going until about 128. the 300zx beat me though but not by much. he didnt have a turbo setup.

Wasent the best night. But our cars do run good on the highway.

That explains it. The trucks with 2 or 3 tailgates are much faster.

Yet, in this case "Theres no replacment for displacment"

Gearing gives us advanteges verses cars with 10, 15 more horses. Not 100 150 200 more horses

Uh I think he is BSing on the 500 HP becuase I belive the most hp for the Silveradro is 350 or so. And I think s/c at most give like 100 HP, but at that stage the engine is racing spec and most probably not street legal.

I don't mean to call you out, but Ihave raced trucks with a lot more power than my car and I have smoked them and I just lead the pack. Granted they are lifted beyond stock hight which does effect the speed and power of the car (air flow) and that they weight a lot more than me makes them easy kills. The biggest pack I have lead was 5 trucks that where from 4 to 6 feet off the ground. It was pretty funny seeing them tring to beat me.

LMAO I love messing with the "big bad SUV" crowd. Sure, I lose to some of the higher end ones, but most of the time they're easy.

As for the OP story....yeah, you didn't have a prayer. Even stock that guy would have ripped ya. Although, I would say on the highway at 60+ you might have given him a good run. At those speeds, our cars have great gearing and wind would certainly slow the SUV down more than you.

I forget the figures but wind resistance increases exponentially over surface area. Something like if he's got twice the surface area, the wind resistance at X speed would actually be quadroupled.

Note: I shoulda payed more attention in physics. :P
