well i just got done racing, its almost 3am ...did off the line and highway....i got fucking destroyed in all...i went up against my friends 2006 honda civic si and my friends acura integra ls (155hp) ... both manual...i got my **** handed to me...i FUCKING HATE AUTOMATIC IT SUX FOR RACING!! but i did learn a few things...going off the line...the fastest results i got was from pressing the hold button and being in first gear and once i hit 6000rpm (it gets there damn fast) i shifted to 2nd...kept going till i got to D.. compared to just launch from D without hold button position, 1st with hold was a lil better. also on highway...the best way to accerelate going already at 80mph was starting in D hold button...then shifting down to 3rd and that would really launch me. anyways i got destroyed nomatter what i did...god. i did however hit 125mph. which beat both of there max's they where in the 115's. but they also said if i kept shifting it would **** my tranny up since i got automatic .....that true? should i just NOT even bother racing with an automatic...iono...tell me what u think.

Man im to depressed...i was thinkin bout doing intake and exhaust...but now after gettting killed...im thinking of just leaving it stock..drive it few years and getting a new manual tranny car...sigh... ;( im going to bed this is too depressing.

Well, right off the bat man you were racing manual cars. Although automatics have come a along way, a manual still gives the driver more control over his car's speed. This is why I went with the manual Reno. I'm sure a few mods will put your car in to contention though. As stated many times before in theses forums, the engine in these things have tons of unleashed power.

Hey, it's sorry to hear about your predicament there.

But, those two battles are ones that I could have told you off the bat that, assuming identical drivers, you could not win. Besides the obvious HP advantage of those two cars, the Suzuki's auto tranny is does not help as the ratios are far apart. Even I feel the ratios on the manual tranny are too far apart. The auto trans in the Suzuki's, although claimed to be adaptive, is not really tuned for spirited driving to say it nicely.

Take them out to a local autocross and see who really is the better driver.

My next car will DEFIANTLY be a manual.... i know the general concept to drive one..but i never have driven one yet...but i want to learn...and after last night i saw the power of manual....wow.....when we were are round 90mph...he was fuckin with me too..he was in 4th gear and still killed me, not by much though...but then he shifted into 3rd and destroyed me like i was at a standstill (friend in the acura integra) ...

Well i got this suzuki not to long ago.. what do u think my next car should be thats decent for racing? im thinking 2door.

Intake, exhaust, and ud pulley give a 25% increase in power at the wheel.. that maybe enough to allow you to run with your friends.. but im not sure how much slower the auto is.

just cuz a cars a two door doesnt mean its any faster either... stick with a sedan if you get a new car. I love sedans personally though.

Kinky...you think if u race with auto u should be in D gear all the time? or would u press hold and shift gears from 1,2,3,D ? cuz i was shifting last night...1st gear in hold gives u a good amount of power.

I have somewhat of an idea how our auto's work on our cars since I have raced people and won some races, and with cars a lot more hp than a Civic Si has.

Off the line our cars suck as our cars not made for drag and have high end power, meaning that the higher the RPM's the more power we are getting from the engine. This means that if you want to race with our cars even with mods you need to have a rolling start if your car is stock and haven't kick in the sports mode from the tranny. Fuzzy logic is explain in your manual and has been talked about here on the forum so do some searching first.

Secondly the other reason you lost is due to your skills in general driving, racing and with the car. Before you race again take some time to know and understand how the car works. Becuase I bet you once you "feel" out the car you will do better in racing.

As far as the hold feature goes, I won't really play around with it, unless you plan on actually driving a real manual becuase once you hit that hold button it turns the car into a "manual". I put manual in quotes becuase its not a true one, but as close as you will get with a auto tranny. Now on shifting you shouldn't be in "4" or D at 80 even when racing becuase your losing to much power as you notice when you shift to 3rd. Wait until 90 at the earlist as you will get more power overall from D/"4".

No disrespect, but i did test the car out, that car just isnt made to race in stock in general...my friend who had the acura intregra also tested out my car and was driving it just as good if not worse then i was in it and he destroyed me in his manual intregra...my driving skills are pretty good, the car just "sucks" for racing..i know how the car works perfectly fine, i cant control how well it works..i shifted at 80mph from 3rd to D (4) becuz i was already almost at redline at 80mph in 3rd gear. it's not like i wanted to shift on my own.. i HAD too.

Auto's just suck for racing and i found out the hardway last night. next car...MANUAL.
