Hi there!

I also own a suzuki 1992 every model. It has an F5 550cc 6 valve front engine. I think meron naman parts sa banawe. Meron din daw shop na gumagawa at nag recondition ng suzuki engine in Abad santos. I think the name of the shop is suzuki abad santos but I still have to confirm it. Pupuntahan ko palang.

What parts are you looking for? Better bring a mechanic with you in Banawe if your canvassing for parts as there are people and shops that may take advantage of you. Cebu and Davao are suzuki parts haven and they are quite cheap. Try cinco in Cubao as well but I am not sure if they have one in Banawe. I'll email you the lists of the shop that was recommended next time coz I left it at home.

What's your engine type and where is it located? Does your van's air con works?

My project right now is to change engine so I can put a good air condition.

Goodluck!

Hi there Yellowturtle (nice handle by the way =P).

Firs of all, thanks for taking the time to provide me with some useful information.

As ive posted here i just got this carry van, sorry if i wasnt able to provide some information on my first forum message. and so off i took the front driver's seat to take a peak of my engine, and yeah it was there alright - (probly the reason i feel hot down there during long drives hehehe). anyway i cant find the engine model just by looking at it so i had a mechanic checked it. he told me that it is a 1000cc 4cyl engine. lookin at the registration OR/CR i see the engine 'code' as F10A. mine is with airconditioned but its not that cold especially during summer. im planning to change the valve cover gasket that is why i asked for parts supplier.

I will definitely check out those shops you mentioned here. i hope i could get a good deal with them. i previously owned 2 volks bettle (one german and the other is brazillian) - i can say i am somehow a fanatic of this 'non-conventional' cars - Suzuki Carry is one of them. I recently (two days ago) took my Carry van to tagaytay. It was a challenge for me and the car with 7 people squeezed inside =p

i will definitely check out the place you mentioned here maybe tomorrow. just in time before the holy week where i need to take my van to Tarlac province.

im still waiting for your list of shops and addresses pls. Thanks.

Lets keep this forum alive by posting discoveries as we go along!

Im thingking of building or joining a club for Carry owner so we can exchange informations, take tours, etc. Do you know one? Can i nominate you as early as now as the president?? =).

Wheew! I thought I'm the only one who likes this van in Manila. Not a very popular here in terms of power and safety because the engine is located underneath the seats as there are no protection for frontal collision. But who wants to hit this cute van.

I think this van is very popular in the south. An acquaintance of mine told me that this van are also use for drag racing and 4x4 competition. They even modified the engine by putting a 4k toyota engine.

I've read past reviews in England on the daihatsu van similar to the suzuki carry, and most of the owners have something positive to say. This van is also popular in Australia and I was able to contact a suzuki carry enthusiast. He has the same van as mine but his engine is a F5 turbo. He even put up an 18 inch plasma tv, x-box and speakers plus strobe lights on the ceiling. A truly party whore in the making.haha

I was planning to put a F10 engine to replace my F5 6 valve, 3 cyclinder engine but my contact in Australia told me that a F6 is better coz they are built for speed/power and a F10 is more for torque or pulling power. I think majority of San Miguel and Coke service van vehicles has a F10 engine. A K10 1000cc 16 valve is the best choice but sad to say, i don't think it's available here.

Last month, I went to Norkis service center in Mandaluyong which sells Legacy and Suzuki vans. Their vans have a F6 3 cyclinder engine. With P20k++ additional, they'll install an AC using a sanden brand and 505 compressor. But their vans are quite over price for P230++ without AC. If you want to make your AC cold try checking what type of compressor you have. My aircon technician told me to put a 505 compressor but i have doubts on my 550cc engine if it can handle the load.

Here in Del Monte, they are still selling brand new Suzuki carry and as far a I can recall, they are selling it for P450++. You can even install a dual AC for an additional fee. It has an EFI 1.0 Donga engine. In short, it's made in China. So that's a big question mark!

I bought mine along Marcos Hi-way in Marikina and I think the owner has a shop that sells van and pick-up type in Tarlac. I like the combi type van. In Japan, you can install a body kit that transform your Suzuki carry (the head light should be round though) into a combi van.

As for the club, I'm not yet ready as I'm still taking care of my 5 month old baby girl. I'm even ban for a while :P to ride my MC(xrm) for long rides with my MC buddies. May asthma kasi ako-(Ask my wife Hihihi)

I'll PM(private message) later for additional info.

Goodluck on your Holy week trip. Drive safe.

PS: I forgot the lists again...SORRY! Promise, I'll email it to you tomorrow.

Thanks Dude! that was a pretty fast reply. Good to know you're not the only one loving this BIG toy eh?

What i like about his car the most is fuel efficiency. going to tagaytay, driving around there, and going back to manila only cost me P500! for gas.

Quick question: where do you plan getting engines? are they brand new or reconditioned? how much?

Where in tarlac can i find the dealer you mentioned?

Please send me the address of the shops, im planning to take wednesday off work so i can scout those shops.

Thanks again.

I'll email you the address tomorrow on the suzuki shop in tarlac. My friend mechanic in San Mateo knows some shop that might sell the F6 engine like Cinco in Cubao. I'll be meeting him this coming weekend to have my van check. The engine that are sold here are 2nd hand and reconditioned. He told me that I can get an engine as low as P12k or maybe more depending on the engine condition or if it has turbo. Don't go to Norkis coz they'll charge you P39k!!! Just add a little more cash and you can use the money to go to Cebu for a vacation buy an engine and bring it here in Manila.

Anyway, got to go as my commander in chief is calling for me. hehehe

Hi all,

I'm new owner of Suzuki Carry. Hope to get some help from anyone. My mechanic says that my carburator and engine are bad. The engine is leaking oil from top header and bottom oil sump. Carb, prob is hard hot starting, and not smooth idling.

I can't seem to find parts or engine in Singapore. Spareparts shops say all the parts have been shipped to Pakistan.

Hope to meet some of you in PH if you can help me find parts or engine for a DA21V SK410 Suzuki Carry. Need to get either Carburator or a good whole engine.

Hope to get some good news.

Thanks.

Daniel

Hey Vanman! welcome to the club! like you im a newbie too. and i get a great deal of help just be reading message posted here by ma-man Yellowturtle.

Anyway i think your engine is much the same as mine F10A 970/1000cc Mine has the same problem as yours. it would take me about 7 times cranking it before it fires up. sometimes i wonder if it would ever start up. like you mine is leaking oil on top of the valve cover and below the engine. its not a bad leak thoug, but im still worried. about 2 days ago i braced myself and took off the valve cover cleaned it up and put some rubber gaskect on the now worn-out original gaskect so as to re-inforce it. and after that i put it back on. problem fixed on the top leak!

By the way, if you know Banawe you can go there an buy parts for your engine for a very cheap price. A valve cover gasket will cost you P115 only.

Here are some things you might want to check first:

1. Check your(or have someone) Electricals - replace if necessary:
Spark plugs, high-tension wires, rotor cap, rotor cover, condenser and contact point(point breaker)
2. Check battery
3. Check/replace carb filter.
4. Clean carburator.
5. Check fuel pump if necessary.

6. Make sure your engine oil is on the level.

Here is a good resource i found with good illustrations on Service Manuals for Suzuki small engines like ours:

http://www.lj10.com/carry/

Now if you want to replace the engine entirely - Yellowturtle is the guy!
I hope we guys can meet sometimes. Or you can go to Cebu and just everything about this van is there!!! - That is a Carry haven!

Today just after i post th is message im going to take off my carb and inspect it - What a brave man I am!!! :P

God bless Dude!

Hi all,

Yes Yellowturtle did PM me. Thanks for the info. I was fortunate enough to get a good mechanic that solved the starting problem. He pulled out the carb and cleaned and serviced it. Now it idles silently no more jerking and knocking.

I also was good enough to meet a dealer who let me try an oil additive that he said would help revitalize the dying oil seals. I will update on my findings. I looked at the Engine cover yesterday and it was dry not the wet oily before. Will look at it again today. If this works, I will probably save some money from overhauling the engine.

Here's a picture of my van
