Default Idiots...

I stopped by Autozone to pick up some plugs for the Tracker and got so mad at the idiot behind the counter that I walked right back out again.

I gave him the info on the Tracker and asked him what he had available. As he was looking down the list reading off names, he made a comment that since it was a Chevy, the best plug to use would be an AC/Delco. I piped back that Chevy didn't build the car, Suzuki did and that, to a degree, similarly designed plugs are just that - similar. He just rolled his eyes and, in a very sarcastic tone, said that I could believe anything I wanted to. I told him I'll just take my business elsewhere and walked out. I'd have talked to the manager about him, but he WAS the manager.

I would have loved to be a fly on the wall to see what happened next because the other guy behind the counter was a buddy of mine who knew that I understood far more about this stuff than the average joe.

As far as I'm concerned - I'm done with Autozone.

Hey their little book is LAW. If it says your Suzuki-built Tracker was built by Chevy, IT WAS! Respect the book! LOL

I really should have stuck to my initial plan for dealing with them. I was planning on just telling them that I had a Vitara instead of a Tracker, but I was afraid that they would then tell me that I would need to go to a motorcycle shop for Suzuki parts or that they would have to special order the plugs.

You are quite correct about their attitude about their look-up system. If it isn't in the book, it doesn't exsist. I wanted them to cross reference something to see if a part from one car was identical to the one on another car. They just gave me that "deer in the headlights" look and insisted they couldn't do that.

I really should have known better.

Tell them to grab the part from the Zuk and the Tracker, and hold them side-by-side. I'd like to see the reaction to that. Of course, they could be a different color or something. Then, obviously, they're not the same
