Default uh oh! better not get Maaco...

Has anyone had any body work done on their cars yet? I came out of Target the other day to find a big wrinkle down the side of mine. If that's not bad enough, I've now been to the body shop three times to get the side repainted. They took the dent our fine, but where the molding meets the door, it keeps peeling off. The last time I brought it back they seemed to be saying it was the best they could do, to which I responded their best wasn't good enough and I wanted my money back, so I could go someplace reputable. They said they would give it another shot. It's actually there right now, so I'll let you know if it's any better this time. Has anyone else had a problem like this? I went with Maaco Collission because they offered a five-year warranty on the paint, but it seems like I should have gone else where. *sigh*

yeah, sounds like they don't know what they're doing or they don't have the proper shop for painting(dehumidifiers and heaters for the paint to set up right)

Parsons did a good job on my car, but i think they're just a local company...

I work in a body shop, and if you want your car painted right take it to a shop that strips down the panels of any trim. on every door we paint the handles, molding (belt and body side) mirrors, and run channels on some cars. and we can back any paint job with a lifetime warranty

maaco does as good of a job as a 4 year old with water colors. my buddy had a car of his painted a few years ago and when he took it in it had some dirt on it so they just painted over it.

I guess the problem is that they painted over the moldings. (Lazy.) I've already mixed words with them a couple times over this fiasco. Don't every go with Maaco. Right now they're removing the moldings, repainting them, wet sanding the whole left side of my reno, repainting, clear coating, cutting and buffing, and then returning the moldings. I brought it in to get a small dent in my door removed. What a load of crap. I'm sure it's cost them more than I paid them at this point. Anyway, if it's not right tomorrow, I'm demanding my money and getting a friend of a friend to do it. I just went with Maaco, because it had a five-year warranty. Big mistake.

Ok. I'm disturbed now. They broke the molding trying to take it off. I already ordered a new one, which they are paying for, and they refunded my money, so I can take it some place else. I guess I just thought a chain like that would be better than some local guy, but apparently they just don't care. Morale of the story: Don't ever, ever, ever go to Maaco. All of this was to repair a door ding, and now it's worse than ever. F---ing losers.

those side mouldings are a HUGE pain in the ass to get off. i broke some of the clips on mine when i took them off to paint them...but they're an actual company and i'm sure they'd have some better tools to get them off. sorry to hear about your misfortune, dude. i'm sure you'll get it fixed eventually

You should also try to get them to cover more, since it's probably going to cost more to fix it now than it would have cost to do the ding.

btw is Maaco the one that advertises $199 paint jobs?

I don't know what they've been advertising. The price list on the wall said you could get your car painted with a simple enamel coat for about $500. It was about $800 for a higher grade enamel and about $1,400 for a full repaint with clear coat. I paid about $350 for them to remove the door dent. That was on par with other estimates I got. They actually did a good job with the dent, it was the painting they continually screwed up. They kept trying to say the factory clear coat was too thin, and that that was the real problem. But the factory clear coat stayed on just fine. It was their crappy paint that was rolling up.
