i got them out! once you can reach them by removing pretty much your lower dash, there's two tangs on either side of the black ducting that hold it as well as 2 grey tangs on the bottom of either side. there is also a spring-like clip that holds them in place...

to remove mine, i pushed upwards with my fingers on one side on the bottom tang(about 5 o'clock). after you get it to move about 1/8" push in the black tang at 3 o'clock. after it pops out a little, then do the same to the other side (7 and 9 o'clock). from this point, you should be able to pull the assembly off your dash. the assembly comes apart into the tubing, the fins, and the silver trim. i'm painting right now, but i'll be sure to post pics when they're done.

props to FinChevy for finding the info.<thumbsup>

there are some here and there...4 on the metal plate under the kick panel. 2 on the top of the gauges, 3 or 4 behind the passenger side trim piece, 5 on the glove box, and 4 on the cd player. other than that, its all clips

it isn't as complicated as i thought it would be. i've always been afraid of taking dashes apart because i figure i'd lose screws or forget how it goes back together. i have it all back together now, but it's at the muffler shop so i can't take pics

aside from a few imperfections, it turned out great! you can only notice a few marks if you're really looking for them

Niiieeece! I thought about painting mine, bust haven't ran into the spare time yet. I also looked into some dash wrap to avoid taking them off. Just don't know.

trust me. take the time to take it apart. it makes painting a lot easier and there is no tape-off. after doing it a few times, i can take my dash apart within 30 min.

where'd you get the shift knob? did it come with the pull u for reverse in chrome or is it something you made or had custom made? LMK would like to get one. I was thinking about going with blue accents on the inside but man that drab gray interior just doesn't help any color you want to put in there. still might though.
