Easy to do if anybody wants to know how to open the headlight (the silicone and stuff) and paint the inside!!

Hi Southsidegear,
I'd love to know how you did this! Can we please have a guide of how to?

Thanks,
Spaceman.

x2 I know its easy.. but a how-to helps alot. I've been wanting to do this for a year but lazyiness and being the first to do it has kept me from doing it.

What paint did you use? and how long have you had it? My main concern is with my brighter (much hotter) light bulbs, and me being in Arizona makes me worry about the paint melting.

Danny

It's really easy to do this but it takes time
1. Take off the headlight and take the bulbs out of them and make sure you put the bulb cover back on
2 Put the each headlight in the oven for 15 min. at 250 degrees on a towel
3 After 15 min the silicone melts so take out the headlight from the oven and and take the little silver clip from it and with a flat head take the glass off the black part (This take alot of strenght and 4 hands so get someone who can help you with this, and make sure the silicone doesnt dry, it should remain hot)

4. After you take the front glass off the black part put the lense aside and theere is like a cover connected to the glass with 2 screws on the bottom. Take the screws out and take the cover out.

5. Paint the cover black and make sure you dont touch the lense for the turn signal since its connected to the cover( put like a sock or tissue in there) and for the paint I used Dupli color Acrylic Enamel heat resistant paint. Ive had it for a week and othin happened to the paint and its like a 100 degrees in florida everyday so you can use any heat resistant paint if you want.

6 To put it back on you will have to put the cover back in the glass and put the headlight back together. Put it back in the oven for the same time and same temperature, take it out and squeeze it back todether, put the silver clip on and the bulbs should be left for the last step since you dont want to put your bulbs in the oven.

Heres how I did it .

Not reallly its not a pain in the ass because it doesnt melt anything but the silicone and its not hard at all. I seriously didnt know how to do this but i had an idea if I can melt the silicone somehow I can open the headlight and so I did and painted the inside.
