A couple tips as I'm doing this:
Be carfull with the black part (especialy the tabs) as it gets soft and will mold easy. After you get the clear plastic part off I recommend going back before it cools and trying to bend all the black tabs back into shape as they get a bit out of shape.

I'm going to use BBQ paint as I like the color and it withstands high tempatures.... its a flat black though so depends on your preference. My car will be repainted flat black some day so it's perfect. I took a rough measurment of how hot my headlights were w/o the lights on and they were about 150degrees on the outside (I drove around for about 2 hours, came home parked in the garage for 25 mins and went on a 15 min drive). I live in Arizona and it's about 103 degrees out right now though. I'd make sure to get a paint if you live in a hot place that'll withstand at least 300 degrees.

Did you sand or use primer?

I sanded mine.. but some of the corners and stuff I didnt get very good and that paint isnt sticking there at all so I have to redo it all.

I didnt use plastic paint.. I used BBQ paint so I didnt have much of a choice. It turned out nice though... not perfect but you can barley notice. I have to buy new headlights sometimes anyways as mine are foggy from the wires melting a few months ago.

What are you doing to that poor poor car?!

j/k

Oh and I would recommend a very light sanding to be sure the paint sticks. Just because it took w/o it, doesn't mean it's the right (or only) way to do it.

Like Chris Rocks says: "Hey, you can drive a car with your FEET. That don't make it a good f*cking idea!"

Think I'll put that in my sig....lol

Again I was just telling these people how I did my(since they are the ones who wanted the "how to steps" )blackhousing and He asked me if he should sand it or prime it, I didnt use none of those, neither I listed it in the steps and I didn't say it was the right or only f!cking way to do it!!!
