Default Oil Pan Destruction & Ownage

The Scene... They did some road construction and left way too big of a drop in the area they dug up And no signs saying to slow down. It was an 80 km/hr zone, and you really needed to slow down to about 20km/hr for this!!!!

Fantastic how the marginally-reflective sign is knocked down...... even if it was up........ WTF does that mean?? A pogo stick up your ass?!?!

Cops showed up after the same thing happened to about 4-5 other cars

This is where it happened..... first drop causes the car to dive down, then smacks into that metal piece!!!

The aftermath....... downpipe flange gets pushed through the oil pan

What a shitty night...... I just hope the motor is OK

Noooo! Your car is too awesome to be towed!! It's a shame the road contruction people didn't do anything about it to warn people. I hope your engine is ok and I hope that oil pan is fixable and I hope nothing is wrong with the downpipe flange.

are you going to file to the city? i don't know how things work in canada but i hit something similar and blew my suspension to hell and after i got it fixed everyone i told said file to the city since there was no warning or anything. i didnt do it because i need to establish credit and les schwab fixed it for about $200. 2 days after i got it fixed they had signs and cones. i didn't take pics but you did so you could use as evidence.

So we had it up on the hoist today.......... bad news.... more than just the oil pan took damage. The downpipe is bent upwards and the midpipe is also bent along with the flex joint wrecked as well. We still don't know if the turbo or manifold took any damage

I've called my city in regards to this and had to leave a message...... I wonder what the chances are that they will do anything for me.

Well what you can do is, keep calling them and if nothing happens, take them to the courts? I'm not sure how the Canadian Law works. But that's terribe...

i heard of similar things happening like damaged caused by improper road repair. and in more than one situation it was repair at the city's cost.

You definitely should not have to pay for it, but to get results you may need a lawyer or you insurance company to represent you.

Car is still down, haven't started any repairs.

We're supposed to start on Monday, but I still don't know if the city is going to cover the costs....... it might be coming out of my pocket. They've opened up a claim for me, but I guess I'll follow up on Monday.

My heart weeps for the Optra. So sad. I've gone through a million work zones and all i ever get is tickets. Let us know what the damage estimate is. I hope your turbo is fine.
