Default Engine missing after replacing Head gasket

Just replaced head gasket on 2004 Forenza, I am getting horrible misses now. Spark plugs are good and wires are on correctly. Could the cams be a little off? I lined them up to the marks exactly, and the crank is lined to the marks as well.
Any Ideas on what to check would be helpful.

I think I'd start with a compression (or leak-down) test to determine if pressures are correct. IF not, it would indicate assembly error (gaskets or cam timing).

Can you scan for errors NOW at least? That should give you a mis-fire code pointing to a specific cylinder (hopefully), or you may get a "random" mis-fire code at worst.

Any "story" leading up to the head gasket replacement need may help us out. Specifically which engine in discussion here as well.

Plug in your location under "USER CP" too. We get requests from all different vehicle origins from around the world. Some differ in specs. And welcome aboard!

Head gasket was replaced due to leaking coolant into cylinders and outside of block. it is a 2004 Forenza with a 2.0l engine. I suspect it may be because the cams may be off by a tooth either way.
I just need to confirm that would cause the misses. I will also check compression next

hi. first double check and make sure everything is plugged in correctly. a misfire could be a number of things. if the timing is off thats sure to cause a problem. another could be the cam sensor. make sure thats hooked up. are you sure you have the firing order right? the belt could be loose. sometimes the tensioner pulley can be very tricky to get right. definitely check the belt and make sure everything is ok. let us know what you come up with
