I just unbolted them and removed the wires under the seats, but my airbag light is on now (whos isn't). I dont think it is from removing my seats though I have removed them several times, but dont hold me to that. In my honest opinion the side airbags wont work because I have my seat all the way back and tilted back quite a bit. It would just hit my b pillar not block the window ( I think that is what it is there for).

Hope that helps.

Amen to that. I took mine in to the dealer 3 times, the last attempt involved replacing the entire wiring harness, over $1300, covered by warranty, but the light is on again, and I'm pretty sure I'm over the warranty at nearly 50k

Idk if its the same situation but one of my friends had a hyundia elantra and he a put seat covers on the front seats. Not long after his Airbag light came on. Turns out the airbags in the seat "know" when theyre covered, thus becoming disabled and turning on the trouble light. It says right on the car that seat covers cannot be used on vehicles with side impact airbags inside the seats. Theres a sticker on the drivers side door (open the door and look down) that has SRS written in bold letters. (Its white, black and orange)

the reason they dont want you to put seat covers on is because it will prevent the airbag from deploying. just make sure you get a seatcover made for a seat with an airbag. then a cover is fine. it will have a breakaway section where the airbag comes out.

oh... the dealership just told me it was best not to put anything on the seats. I didnt know they made them for the seats with the airbags in them. do you know where to find them?

From what I have heard the air bags have the power to rip right through the seat cover, but if you dont feel safe putting a seat cover over it the just cut a hole in the side of the seat cover and use velcro were the air bag would come out.

I personally dont see how that air bag is going to do shit for me because my seat is all the way back and leaned mack pretty good. The air bag would hit the b pillar not really doing anything.
