Well i'd like to say hello to everyone out there that is still active and alive on the forums. i recently purchased a used 05 suzuki forenza. when i got it i didn't have a choice on the tranny so i got stuck with the auto. still its fun to drive it. also not the first suzuki for me to drive. my dad really got me hooked on them when he bought a 02 suzuki aero, the standard w/o the the turbo. either way my forenza fits me and i like it.

well anyways now that i've been driving it for some time i've decided i want to start modding it but i don't know where to start. the car currently is completely stock. base options with only a few extras ie abs. don't ask me how it has it but only way i know that it has it is because i've taken it in to a dealership for the air bag light being on and the alignment being off.

back to the subject though. i've been thinking about starting small and working my way up because i can find my way around a car and engine. granted there is a lot of feeling but for the most part i know what i'm doing just not always sure on somethings. i wanted to know where i should start. i have been trolling the forums here and saw a picture of a car, don't know if it was a forenza or not, that behind the grill it was lit up w/ a light or such. i was really impressed with this but wanted to know if any one has tried it or was i seeing things.

any ideas where i should start or things i should look at would be much appricated. oh i have already disabled the DRL. great idea, just not really worth it in my area for them to be on all the time.

and in case any one was wondering i'm running synthic oil and get about 29-31 hwy and average about 24-27 city.

About a month ago i bought a '08 forenza, i started with an intake and have begun grounding the engine better. i just bought the SPECTRE brand universal 'design it yourself' intake kit. i spent about $70-$80 but i had my old spectre intake parts from my old s-10.


or you can contact kinkyllama about the BMS intake he has, i think its like $200 or a lil more.

like the looks of you cold air. kind of aphensive about putting one in at the moment because i live in southern california, so the weather can be a pain in the a$$. plus the fact that i drive in the snow worries me about the intake. last thing i need to do is to go snowboarding, drive thru wet weather, grab some water on the filter, get to where it is snowing, let the car sit for a couple hrs outside in the cold and come back to ice on the filter. i screwed my old CRX that way and had to get a new motor for it cuz when the ice thawed out i ended up sucking a piece of ice up the intake. needless to say that was a very short attempt to drive home that day.

The BMS CAI is made for rallying as that is what BMS races. This means the CAI does not go all the way down to the bumper but sits up higher so things like water and dirt don't get inside it. Also if you are that worried about water you can get an air by pass valve from AEM. That will take care of any water that got into the CAI from the entry point.


Also your about 30 to 45 minutes away from me as I live in Orange County (a lesser known part lol). So if you want to see the BMS CAI in person I be more than happy to show you.

at first i had the filter higher in the engine bay, but i wanted to see if i could feel a difference. i did not, but i did notice i got about 1mpg more down low. the only direct line to my filter is that tiny little hole where the optional fog light goes. but that is not even a direct shot to the filter. and i am planing on making a block off or something to stop water from even getting near the filter. either way you are going to have a louder engine between 3-6.5 rpm. it sounds almost like you have exhaust when you get on the throttle. i like it. i don't know how the bms sounds, but i would imagine it would sound close to the same.
And even if you decide to later on you got some options. and i'll let you know if that block off helps/works.

well do the flash floods that i have a happen to get stuck in at random times count?

and jurupa i would love to see it, i sometimes a very good visual can make all the difference esp considering i'm not quite too sure what i'm going to be getting into w/ my forenza
