Default No low beams

Hi guys, found your forum with a little snooping---and need. Have owned my 2006 Forenza for about three weeks now, almost know what its suppose to do. Had a 2000 ford ranger and someone ran over me; after collecting my totaled money bought this Suzuki and put a thousand in the bank. So now you know I'm kind of a cheapy. It holds as many groceries as the ranger and they don't even get wet or blow out. Just one little problem though. This morning noted I have no daylight running lights. The manual control lever on steering column does what the book says except when I (push or pull) with lever no outside lamps (dims) ever come on but lever does switch off the brights. Removed and checked all fuses in Instrument panel and Engine compartment —all OK. So, my summation is no low beam lights whether control comes from the automatic daytime run control or from the manual position control lever and no fuse problem. Anyone have a wiring diagram or where should I go from here? Thanks.

Just go to the dealership and have the "NB" recall performed and as long as your bulbs are good all will work out just fine.

The recall is for a splice pack behind the Instrument Cluster that burns up because it will not hold the load very well. They trim the wires from the splice pack and install a butt splice connector that not only has shrink wrap built in it also as adhesive to water proof it and solder to ensure a great connection.

With an '06 you may also need your seat belt buckles up front replaced.

Hope this helps.

Could you give me a reference to where I can find the “NB” recall. I can't find it on the internet anywhere. Would like to be informed before going to a dealer.

Hey, I found it. It's on the 2005 forenza with manufacture dates 09-23-03 up to 1-18-06 and my 2006 auto manufacture date is 7-05. So I'll be seeing the dealer pronto and also verify those seat belts. Thanks a bunch. I knew this forum was a good one.

Also fiddle with your ebrake, in case a contact is stuck. I know when you pull it up just a lil, it turns mine off.

I did a little checking with the E-brakes but decided that since my dash light goes out its probably not causing my problem. Also don't believe the E-brake is in the circuit when lights are turned on from the manual control lever and I have no low beam there, at least it doesn't turn off my brights. However, not sure of anything, keep throwing ideas at my old bald head.

That test is most effective in checking your brake fluid level with the hood closed. If low your brake light will stay on but your DRL will come on too. If DRL goes off you when you pull up your switch is fine and your fluid is low.

You however need the Instrument Panel Wire Harness repair done to correct you headlight and DRL problem. Common problem to fix.

Have them do all open recalls. Can't remember off the top of my head whether or not it is 05 or 06 that has the Black plastic (not chromed ones) door release handle customer satisfaction campaign too (not all cars fall under this).

The low beam lights are fixed. A 2005 recall apply's to 2006 vehicle dates with manufacture dates prior to 1/18/06. Got new seat belt buckles from a recall also. The Suzuki mechanic said some people had their vehicle torn apart trying to fix the light problem. He sure had to tear the instrument panel apart. Thank you guys for your help.
