A week ago during my spring break i took my 04 forenza to a dealership out in Cerritos, CA for safety recall regarding the DRL lights that could 'fuse out and cause an accident.' Mind you it was my father that wanted me to do this, so i went out and drove to the dealership.
The guy at the front desk was pretty helpful and nice, as expected. The recall took about two hours, which was pretty long for me, but endurable. The recall was fixed, and they even replaced the head gaskets that started leaking, and mentioned that my serpentine belt was starting to crack.
That wasn't so much as the problem though. What happened after was that my dad noticed something wrong with the car a few days afterwards. In the garage, there was a heavy scent of some kind of oil, so he checked under the forenza, and what do you know, a puddle of oil that came from the power steering.
My question now is if the dealership service workers did this on purpose or not... My dad took the car to a shop that he knew and trusted, and the mechanic there said that some parts were loosened severely, meaning that the dealership did a really crappy job, or did it on purpose so we would go back to them to dish out more money to get it fixed.
Whats your take on this? keep in mind that i NEVER had problems with the car, since i never took it to the dealership. I changed the oil myself, get tires changed at Cosco (haha) but never at the dealerships.

Hard to say really. Most of the time its small time shops that do this but ive seen some good shops do things like this on dateline. If it were me Id be calling that dealer, explaining the situation and getting an explanation. If there is a hint of fowl play take legal matters that sh*ts no joke, its immoral and complete bs.

+1. It's not uncommon to forget to tighten things and whatnot.
I used a shop that our family has put 100's (Mostly my Dads old business) of car's into over the years. I had even used them 5x or more and they're great...very honest too. Well once they forgot to tighten my CV axle which popped out a few hundreded miles later. Long story short, it was an honest mistake.
Well I a not sure why the power steering would even be touched in this situation. Or why they replaced the valve cover gasket without asking. If they did then fine. But power steering would not need to be touched for that job.
With regards to the valve cover gasket, they noticed it and decided to be nice and replace it for free, telling me halfway through the process. But im guessing the cost of that isnt more than a few bucks...

Everything is right there next to the engine in this car. I wounder if it was part of the gasket replacment, or the recal.

I have not had a problem with that dealer, if its the one I'm thinking of. Its off the 605, and has the mall that I spent half a day in when I took my car in for the 30K check. THey always coment on it, and the guy that took if for the test drive said he liked the way it handeled
Nothing like the Suzuki, Mitsubishi, ex Deawoo dealer
They most probably forgotten to tighten some bolts or what have you. The next time something like that happens take your car back and ask them to fix it. I am pretty sure they will as Zipper has yet to have any problems there. If you want you can always go to the one in Santa Ana, which is the one I go to. They are generally faster with getting your car back to you. And will even wash your car for free (I had it done a couple of times). There is another dealer in Fullerton, but you have to get your car serviced by the Dodge dealer next door, and I don't trust a Dodge dealer to work on my car.

Its owned by that dealer, but I don't think they do Suzuki warrenty work. Sounds like its time to get an LA/OC get to geather again
