Default warranty questions and concerns... am i covered?

So I just bought a 2004 Forenza to replaced my Aerio that someone totalled (I miss the Aerio), and when I got it back I found out that it is leaking oil. My dad picked it out, but I now have found that it is leaking at the valve covers, main seal, oil pan gaskets. The steering rack is also leaking. The dealer (not a Suzuki dealer) said it was warrantied by Suzuki up to 100K miles. It has 49K on it now. Am I covered? How much fight is the dealership going to put up about fixing the problems? I know they don't get paid half as much on warranty work... am I screwed? Thx in advance for the help...

no help? i'm feeling like i should have never even considered suzuki. i thought that the suspension and 4 wheel disc brakes would make up for whatever didn't add up as a suitible replacement to my Aerio, but i guess i was wrong. it's horribly uncomfortable on anything longer than a 15 min trip and now i'm probably stuck with oil leaks and a leaking steering rack. i bet they refuse to fix any of it and i'm screwed...

I'm not sure if those items are covered under the powertrain warranty. The standard bumper to bumper is 3 years/36,000 miles.

The issue is less whether Suzuki warranties something not covered (they have to set some sort of limit), it sounds like you were sold a defective car. Maybe you need to put this back on whomever sold this to you.

I agree, i wouldn't know it that would have been covered under the 3/36000 warranty or if it's under the 7/100000 warranty, but it just sounds like you got a bad car. there is a lemon law in effect in almost every state. i would first try to hit up the dealer because he sold you a leaky piece of junk.

the lemon laws that i researched only apply to new cars. suzuki advertises a fully transferrable, non deductable 100K mile 7 year warranty on anything suzuki sold after 02, so i figured it would be covered. i don't think the dealership is going to honor suzuki's warranty since it wasn't a suzuki dealership. otherwise, i'm misreading the warranty and the dealer misrepresented it at the time of sale as well. i've read on edmunds about the valve covers leaking bad on these engines, but my main seal and oil pan are leaking as well. wtf

Hmm, I haven't seen much of this at all.

How long (miles and time) have you had that car?

I don't believe seals are powertrain, so the 7/100,000 is moot on that particular issue. The dealer has no reason to tarnish the brand name so figure they will help so long as they don't lose their shirt trying. Have you even tried bringing it to them?

My prior suggestion was not regarding a lemon law (that was mentioned after, and incorrectly so as you've explained). If you were sold a pile of junk you do have some legal rights unless it was specifically sold "as is". In that case you're SOL and you'll need to pony up the money to get those seals replaced.

this is all pretty discouraging. i will be taking it to the dealership to see what they're willing to do about it.

Engine seals are powertrain covered. However external things like the power steering is not.

No pan gasket really just RTV but still covered. Valve covers and main seals are also a covered item. We do the GV front cover reseals under 7/100 all the time (OK not so much anymore but still do them)
