My question deals with performance of my Forena Wagon. It's an 05.
When I go from stop to go and get to 40 mph at a slow rate, oh say about 30 to 40 seconds. Ya, real slow go, but what bugs me is that the RPMS ate higher then normal. They are hitting 4 to 5 on the thing. Once I get to my mph goal, the RPM's go back down but they hover at arround 2 to 2.5 and when I come to a complete stop again, they go down to .5 and up to 1 and back down to .5 again and for grins there are times at a stop it goes to 1.5 darn near 2 on the guage.
Last time I had the car in the shop, they reversed my AC fan for it was pluged in backwards and made the car over heat a lot and they said they also updated the chip in the car. Something about the upgrade fixing some stuff about the RPM thing. I am sure some people here will know what that upgrade was better then I.
Anyway, anyone have ideas and or things I can look at or into to maybe see what I can do to make this issue better?
I had driven the car numerious times and I have never seen the car have such high RPM's during normal driving, I ain't even punching it. I am driving like an old goat. Hell when I was going 80 on the freeway a while back it was arround 2 maybe 2.3 when the engine was in it's 4th gear and was going normal.
Well, imagine... another wagon in AZ with throttle/idle issues. Good luck. I've been working with Suzuki trying to resolve some of the same issues -- for almost 40K miles now. 14 trips to the dealer, leaving the car for extended periods... no fixes. Replaced the TPS sensor, Idle Air Control valve, cleaned the throttle body and the injectors, replaced the throttle body, replaced the battery, replaced a motor mount (?), and no fix. The RPM still sometimes drops too low, then bounces. Funny, though... the tech I worked with expected the car to run rough, so he didn't see it as out of normal range -- even though it will shudder and the lights will dim.
Like I said, good luck. I've about had it with Suzuki. I'll drive the car until it gets worse, and then I'll go back to the Regional Manager (Bill...sad that I'm on a first name basis) and fight to get it fixed under warranty.
If there's not a problem, why was the motor mount broken? Shaking engine from shuddering, that's why. God forbid you ever have an intermittent problem with your car. The manufacturer loves that - shrugs it off as "can't duplicate," and tells you to go F*&(^ yourself.

Hello,
At the dealership that i work at, we have seen some of these problems with the idle being erratic. We had an 06 Forenza in 2 weeks ago and the Suzuki Auto Tech line as well as the diagnosis flow charts to replace the throttle body and the whole engine wire harness. But this is just one example. Also, this vehicle was under warranty, and from the sounds of it Shrike, not sure what kind of mechanics wouldn't call Suzuki Tech support to help you out with the problem. What year and model is your vehicle?
I'm sure it is frustrating to hear that the service department could not duplicate the problem, but how can you fix something that isn't broken at the time? I have seen it time and time again. You can just throw parts at the thing, but is that the way to fix things properly?
Pretty much all you can do if you want the proper treatment is to stay cooperative and positive, it does make a difference.
If you have been to dealer 14 times for same problem and its documented then I would see if there is a lemon law in your state and see if you cant get a new car out of the deal.
Replaced the TPS sensor, Idle Air Control valve, cleaned the throttle body and the injectors, replaced the throttle body, replaced the battery, replaced a motor mount (?), and no fix. The RPM still sometimes drops too low, then bounces.
Have you tried replacing the MAP sensor? I recently had an issue similar to what you guys are describing, and I started swapping parts from my spare motor.... spent 4 hrs swapping parts. In the end it was the MAP sensor that was failing, lucky I had all the spares until I found the problem.
I found out this morning that that is supposedly what's wrong with my '06 Forenza and stumbled across this thread.
What I'm wondering is... if all of these vehicles, mostly '06 Forenzas, are having this issue, why is there no recall?
After all the things Suzuki has had to replace on my car, why not this too? It's going to cost me around $150 to replace this part, as it has to be ordered because not even the dealerships carry it!
I honestly think this has been a problem with my car since purchase, but as everyone has said the tech "can't duplicate" the problem... my ass.
What can we do about this? There's no sense in ALL of us, plus untold amounts of others, having to pay to fix something we didn't break.
I really debated myself on rather or not to jump in on this thread.....but here I am.
Most "dealer techs" (not just Suzuki) could not tell a radiator cap from a gas cap, that is the kind of training the dealers give now a days, they cannot afford to pay for quality techs or train the new guys. Multiline dealerships are the worst, here you have a tech that works on more than one make, say Suzuki and Mazda, guess which make gets priority?
Sometimes you will find a tech that gives a damn, but if he is commision he will not spend time on a car unless he is being paid for it and warranty time for diagnostics is little to nothing. Talk to the tech and offer him compensation straight out of your pocket and watch the problem get solved...he's got motivation and reason now! Service advisor and service manager might not like it if they hear about it but screw em if that is what it takes. Make sure he is qualified though. Look for the ASE certificates and see how long he's been a tech. Needs to be at least 3 years with Suzuki.
Or go to a Suzuki only dealer like I do. The Suzuki dealer near my house makes you go to the Dodge dealer next door to get any kind of service done. I tried it once as I got a free oil change when I bought the car and I learned at the time they had two Suzuki techs and the rest where Dodge techs. But the two Suzuki ones where cross trained for Dodge and Suzuki. When I learned that I went to the Suzuki only dealer a bit further away.
Get you PCM checked. I had the sam problem a year ago. is yours a 06? if it is you might have the smae problme I did with mine. I had to nget a new PCM alltogether as Chevy fride mine while trying to fix it. Not trying to scare you but I'm willing to bet its you PCM.
