everyone please sign this...

they are trying to widen the dragon and make it a 4 lane highway (like they did the sam's gap road). it would destroy most of the existing road so it wouldn't be an "old road/new road" kinda thing.

Ah dude, houseboats!!!

heh

and I'd LOVE to travle that Mile high Cherohala Skyway scenic highway....

I haven't been camping in forever and I think the Fiance here would love it too. I'll start talking to her about it. Seeing as it's only a 6 hour trip right across 40 (less than 6 if you count my lead foot) it'd be easy for us to leave early on a Saturday morning, and go home Sunday night. Might even take a Friday afternoon off for this one.

I love the idea of the whole weekend only costing about $200-$300 for two people.

I'm thinking full hook up for (possibly) two nights = $40
Tank of gas each way and some for driving during the weekend = $85 (or so)
Beer, food, vino, a disposable grill, coals, disposable cameras, sunblock, souveniers, whatever... $75-$175... (notice, beer BEFORE food)

The last part is entirely up to the participants...hehe

Personally, for two, I'd say $300 would be enough money to cover any little unexpected things too. If you eat at a restaurant, factor that in too.

I don't remember the last time we spent a full weekend away from home for under $300. But it looks like it can be done.

PS. I asked kinky to make this a sticky. Speaking of the kinkster it would be awsome if he could make the trip, 2000 miles each way though probly not.
Done.

Yeah Im not even thinking about coming. Maybe if I had a job and was more up on my feet.. and could afford to take off work and pay for this then I would make it like a two week trip hitting every track I could on the way there.

well... what would we do? i know people want to ride the dragon, but is that all? i don't really think a get together would be worth it to just run the mountain, but i dunno. keep bristol and all this stuff in mind. we have a couple more roads up here that are considered better than the dragon simply because the traffic is lower and there are more curves (but it's slower because of it).

here are a few videos of the 421 road. don't mind the idiots who cross into on-coming lanes on blind corners... the locals who have seen these have razzed them about it severely. same goes for passing on blind spots.

food for thought... 421 is 389 curves in 11 miles
