HELP: CD player cuts off

ive been dealing with this problem ever since i got my subs installed a couple of years ago..and it gets bad in the summer...our radios go up to 41 and when i turn mine up to 30-41 it will cut off randomly and the only way i can get it to play again is turn the radio off for a few seconds and turn it back on

i guess best buy f'd up the cd reader eye thingy...idk...does anyone else have this problem?

dang..i would have took it back to bestbuy and told them what happened...i have subs also but its never happened...but idk...i have them off most of the time until i just feel like being in my F'it mood and then i turn them on...

someone told me it was the stock headunit was overheating cuz it couldnt handle the power

no headunit doesnt push the subs it just gives them the signal through the subwoofer amplifier....please tell me you have an amplifier for the sub!!!!....now another question i have for you is do the speakers have an amplifier for them? ok now if everything has its own amplifier and it cuts off its because your amplifier is overheating because A. there is not enough air around it for it to breathe or B. the amps cannot compete with your system. what system do you have? aftermarket speakers? is it amplified? whats the radio, sub, amp, brand? what gauge wire do you have going to the amplifier? how much RMS power does your system push? do all the speakers cut out or just the subs? if your speakers cut out are they amplified? more info i have, easier it will be for me to tell you whats going on....but as of now it just seems that your amp goes into the protect mode and shuts off...

all the speakers cut off. its only when i play a cd though. i have 2 240w pioneer door speakers up front, the back doors are stock...375w rockford fosgate sub and 2 10 inch pioneer subs. 4 gauge wires. let me know if u need more info

that is really odd...are all the speakers amplified? the door ones and the subs?...if they are its because the amplifier is overheating.

now if they are not that it could be 2 things. one that the CD player is actually messd up, or that you have somewhere between the cd player and the speaker a bad or loose connection. for me my fronts cut off because of that.

now you said this only happens at higher volume, and only with CDs...now if that is the case especially if it only happens when you are playing a CD than its definatelly the headunit problem. in that case pioneer offers 2 years warranty on elite units and on their other brands one year, kenwood same with excelon units and one year on other, and all other brands offer only one year manifacture. if you have a extended warranty just have the store replace the stereo. they should do this for free if you had it installed there and if you had the warranty through them. o and also if you know how check the fuse on the back of the radio...i doubt that that is it but it wont hurt to check...

my headunit is stock..the only thing that is amplified are the subs. i dont think the am is overheating. it has something to do with the headunit or a conncetion

yup!!! but than again it doesnt suprise me that the headunit is acting like that. factory units are really not designed to work well with aftermarket components. especially audio equipment!!! you would be probably better off just replacing it, believe me you will get a much better sound!!! and much more controll out of your unit too.
