Over heating on long loggingroad hills!.
We have owned our 1990 GMC Tracker 8v 4x4 auto for 2 years, we live in BC on our last 3 trips on old logging roads into the local mountains on "WARM" days the temp gauge climbed to HOT when we stoppedat the top, the engine blows out the coolant through the plastic reservoir and radiator. I carry a couple of ltrs of water for drinking, so when it cooled down I could top it up again.
1st time back home I checked for leak's etc, replaced 195 thermostat for 180, drove around 50 kms on normal roads not a problem, next trip up a different logging road, same problem, back home checked for leaks again, parked over a sheet of cardboard ran engine for 20 mins at various speeds some under load-no problem no leaks!. Next trip out different Road/hill same thing. Have replaced prior to this as regular maintenance /Cap&Rotor/Timingbelt/Reset valves/Gasket/Fanbelt/
etc etc. DO I HAVE A BLOWN/LEAKING HEAD GASKET?
OR??. We have 206,000kms on this willing little beast But we still love it! Anybody have a good answer? Thanks.
