+1 on the torque. more torque=more fun. i've actually stared at that firewall pad for quite sometime now. i wonder what's stopping me from yanking it. i believe kinky's header was 1.5 on the primaries. i lost all of my torque when i installed it, but in theory, the primary diameter is supposed to be 1.5in for a target torque peak at 4,000rpm (which is what i would want).

cylinder displacement= 30.5cubic in
peak rpm 4,000rpm (this may not be your desired peak)

cross section of primary= 4,000rpm/(88,200x30.5cubic in)
= 1.49

primary length and collector design are just as important. the longer the primary, the more power below the torque peak. opposite goes for shorter primary. but, the collector design, which i don't as much about, is beneficial in keeping lower end power. i think kinky may have omitted this on his design.

none of this will matter unless you can mess with the ecu, but you plan on taking care of that.

The way i figure the cars i've always had the most fun in are the ones with the meatiest broadest power bands. I had an EK civic that was boosted with a T04E and it wouldn't hit boost till 4000 rpms and redlines at 7 with peak boost coming at 5500. It was horrible slamming your foot down and then nothing happening. Then boost came in and the car screamed through the gears but to get raped off the line by some very slow cars (a particular race with a tow truck comes to mind) really sucked.

My parts pile, the boxes under the table are empty, the bin has just some random pipe in it, the box in the back is for test fitting exhaust and intakes. All sorts of stuff really.

This is 80A polyurethane i'll be putting in my motor mounts, theres also a thing of 97A for suspension bushings somewhere in the pile.

My new EBC greenstuff pads

And this is my 2000 page factory service manual. Invaluable to a project of this magnitude.

i still dont get the gti thing. do you mean that there are suzuki swift gti's? the build sounds good. its going to be a rough ride for a daily driver though are you planning to just use it on the track? why aluminum for the exhaust instead of stainless? stainless would hold up allot better. are you planing to rebuild the trans with stronger internals? are you going to do any engine work or just the supercharger? if your going supercharger rotrex seems like the way to go, its the best design

i think hes calling it GTI to name his version of a concept car. like the reno intruder concept or whatever it was called, the suzuki made tuned concept for the reno. or the forenza +R (almost a euro production version). usually manufacturers name there versions of an upgraded car that they make to show build possibilitys or a cars potential. im not making fun of you using GTI just trying to figure out why. at least your not calling it a forenza/reno type r. it seems like everyone wants to slap a type r on there car these days.

i just dont see the problem with just calling it a reno......if u do it up good enough people will be able to tell that its not normal and they will be more interested i rekin

even tho suzuki brought out a gti for the swift they didnt for the reno so donest really fit into those classifications of a GTI because from build date it wasent thought of as one

the reno is a great car and at the end of the day. by calling it a gti doesnt really change anything just makes ppl think why would u call it a gti when its not.............well thats at least what i thought when i saw this

the point was not to call the car something it wasn't but to redo the entire car as a GTI concept. The chevy has the ss line for their cars, dodge has srt, honda has the SI and type S and Type R, Nissan has the Nismo stuff.

The point i'm trying to make is that for my car i don't want to make the car look modded...i want it to look like an OEM vehicle. No crazy 9 inch muffler, i want it to be as factory looking as i can make it. Your not the only one who doesn't like the GTI moniker i put on the car but i like it because no one has any idea what the car can do.

i no where ur coming from but the manufactures give the cars the names, its just thant ur changing it, thats why im expressing my opinion because i understand that u want it to be different and call it a GTI BUT i would agree with you if GM produced a reno gti or anything similar to that.....but they havent and thats where i cant understand this

because say i was building a "concept" viva does this mean i could call it a viva VXR because HSV makes a VXR model of the astra..................yer NO, it doesnt work like that and im pretty sure thats what ur doing by using the swift as an example

and iv got the same car as you so i no that they have the power but honestly unless ur gonna turbo it they arnt GTI quality haahha
