Intake manifold

has anyone attemped to make a different intake manifold? I am wondering because I am currently trying to figure out how to 'fix' the intake mani, i think it is retarded the way it is designed. I am talking to the machinist at work and designing a straight through manifold. so its tb to head without the retarded bend.

there is one available but its very expensive around $1500 i think

Yeah I think Garret is working on a design for one... Also in a previous thread they discussed how the long straight and then a bend in our manifold is actually important to maintaining good airflow to all four cylinders...

And yes a company called Dbilas sells them from the uk for 1500... But it's more like a honda inlet manifold and it would require some modification being done to the throttle body.

the dbilis is made for our engine. its used in korea by tuning shops. you would have to lengthen the throttle cable, not sure what else. its around 1300 euros

the long runners is one of the reasons the motor can make so much more torque that hp. there have actually been people on migweb.co.uk that have reported a power lose after installing a DBilis intake.

there have been several designs that have been gone over and for the most part the factoy is still one of the best.

there is one design that I will be testing on my Lemans project. I'll be basically designing a V8 shorty equal length header that will put the TB over the tranny. I'm not really sure how this will work with someone in the stock configuration.
