the evo, wrx and gtr are some of the best track cars there are. in order to convert to 4 weel drive you need the trans and whole driveline, ecu, custom fab(im sure). qed's motor is nice is aluminum and i believe it costs around that to buy but i dont think it comes with the trans, our stock trans would blow with that kind of power runninig through it. and yes bms does rally the reno they have for years and they do pretty well with it. but your not talking rally your talking "a track race". any wrx, evo, gtr your going to meet on a track is not going to be stock

We are not saying you can't beat a full out rally EVO or STi. But you are going to have to throw down a lot of money to be able to beat one. And it seems you don't want to go over 30k and my guess is your more than likely spend 50k+ once everything is said and done.

He said that he would buy a tranny from QED Motorsport to go with the engine. As far as the racing goes I pretty much agree. I could see stock EVO's and what have you showing up for the casual rally race. But anything more serious than that you will run into modded cars as you mention.

Yeah I am just throwing a few ideas I have had for my car... Right now I am really into Autocross, and I am not sure how much farther I will go into motorsport as I do it mainly for fun... But I do plan to use only the reno for my go fast car, I just love that no one knows what it is. I am not even sure if that kind of money will ever free up for me to spend it on my car, but its a dream I will hold onto and attempt to make a plan for...

I want my reno to have these basic specs when I am finished modding:
6 speed tranny(maybe sequential maybe no)
250hp N/A with a curb weight of 2200lb
Roll cage+full interior strip+No AC, No Radio. Racing seat+5 point harness...
16"x7.5" inch Rota's w/ falkens kw 1V Coilovers
Front and rear Wilwood BBK from Kinky
Kinky headers and straight back to an N1 or Magnaflow muffler...

That is seriously my dream car...

I dunno how streetable a 250hp N/A 2.0 would be, but then again without A/C, radio, interior than I doubt that is a big concern.

Btw good choices on parts but good luck finding 16x7.5" rotas. Infact good luck finding any decently lightweigth 16x7.5 wheel for under $365 a piece. I've tried very very hard. 16x7.5 is an awesome track size wheel for our car though then you could stick on a hankook ventus RS-2 in a 225/45/16 which would match the wheel very good....or the azenis if they have 225 but I don't think they do and the ventus are nearly identical in lap times.

Both the N1 and magaflow mufflers are my favorite. I don't know how the N1 sounds on an N/A car though.

i think 250 might be streetable with the right upgrades. suspention, braces, brakes, bushings. you just want to build it so its reliable. find a good balence between power and controll. with straight power youll end up braking things. sometimes you have to sacrifice a little power for reliability and control.

250hp is the highest I want... It will probably end up being closer to 220-230. Truly I would be fine with just over 200. I also don't think the torque will end up being that high without going boost, to the wheel I don't anticipate much more than 180hp. I just want to build a fairly quick car that's fun to drive and it turns really fast...

On the 16"x7.5" I am not completely set on getting rota I just don't know of too many other brands that sell as light of rims for around the same price... But obviously if they cost around 325 a rim that opens up a lot wider field...
